Hi Kelly, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Achieving work-life balance can be a challenging puzzle to solve. While it’s something worth aiming for, it’s important for me to recognize that achieving perfect balance every day is likely impossible. In the past, I believed that with proper scheduling, blocking off time in calendars, giving adequate notice, and putting in hard work, balance could be attained. While all of these things are essential, unexpected events can derail even the most carefully planned day. Sickness, unexpected family responsibilities, or a lack of inspiration can throw off even the most well-intentioned plans. Therefore, while striving for balance, it’s super important for me to be flexible and adaptable when the unexpected arises.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At KAMP, we’re more than just a cozy little shop in Silver Lake. We are a haven of perennial carefree summer vibes, providing a unique and inviting atmosphere. What sets us apart from others is the experience we offer.

Our mission at KAMP is to be your quintessential neighborhood stop for amazing, natural, and organic wines, all at an affordable price point. We curate a selection of wines that are both approachable and exceptional, ensuring that you can discover something truly special without breaking the bank. But we don’t stop at wine. We also offer cold beer, artisanal chocolates, fresh flowers, and other delightful gifts and provisions, creating a one-stop destination.

Like any business, we faced challenges along the way. We learned to adapt, to listen to feedback, and to continually refine our offerings to meet the needs and desires of our community. Our passion for creating an inclusive and welcoming space is what drives us every day.

We’ve learned the importance of building relationships, not just with our customers, but also with our suppliers and the wider community. We’ve discovered the power of collaboration and the magic that happens when like-minded individuals come together. And most importantly, we’ve learned that creating meaningful connections is at the heart of everything we do.

What we want the world to know about KAMP is that we are more than just a wine shop. We are a gathering place where people can come together, enjoy fantastic wines, and leave with new friends. We strive to create an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome, regardless of their wine knowledge or background. At KAMP, it’s not just about the wine; it’s about fostering a sense of community and celebrating the simple joys of life.

I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my incredible support system, starting with my husband. He has been my unwavering source of belief and encouragement in what I am capable of accomplishing. His steadfast support has given me the confidence to pursue my dreams and push past any obstacles that come my way. I am immensely grateful for his unwavering faith in me.

I also want to recognize and give credit to my son, who is my ultimate motivation. I strive each day to make him proud of his mama. His presence in my life inspires me to work hard and set a positive example for him.

While there may not be a specific person, group, organization, or book that I want to dedicate this shoutout to, I am grateful for the collective impact of all those who have supported and believed in me throughout my personal journey. Their belief, encouragement, and influence have played a vital role in shaping my path and helping me realize my potential. I am thankful for their contributions and the inspiration they have provided.
