Meet Kelly Marie Mack | Actress – Vocal Coach – Director – Voice Teacher

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Marie Mack and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kelly Marie, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” This quote was said to me by a professor during my Bachelor’s program. The phrasing of ‘come alive’ really struck me powerfully. I am someone who can be good at anything I apply myself to, and can be content in it. Before I chose this career, I was floundering and had decided on admin assistant work. Was it a calling? No. Was I good at it? Yes, because I chose to put the work in and be happy. But did it make me come alive…? No, it didn’t.
When I perform, my heart soars. My mood lifts. My smile beams. I come alive. I also feel that same spark of awareness when I direct, and have chosen to pursue directing opportunities alongside performance opportunities.
Taking a step back and being thankful for my career and the many wonderful opportunities afforded to me makes me incredibly grateful to have a career that makes me come alive.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Reflecting back on my college years, I’m very proud of all of the work I put in. I was dedicated from day one to get every moment, every lesson, every grade out of school that I could. I was working seven jobs to be able to go to school, and it was definitely one of the hardest seasons of my life. But I am so grateful that I worked so diligently. That season was definitely a season of growth for me. I am grateful for the reputation that I built with all of the faculty and professors of being a hard worker.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, you’d have to stop by the beach, so I’d likely take them to mother’s beach out in Ventura. We would eat lunch out there and walk through the shops along the water. Then we would drive down to Orange County and eat dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory and walk around Downtown Disney. After staying the night in a hotel, we would do Disneyland the next day, followed by a day at Knotts Berry Farm. Can’t miss Mrs. Knott’s chicken dinner! Finally, we might drive around Hollywood and some of the sites of Windsor Street.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shout out Joel Bishoff, my teacher at AMDA, who brought the spark of directing to life for me!
