We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Springer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I stepped out on my own, I had my clients best interest in mind. I wanted to create a firm that had the power of the big conglomerates, yet had the attention and feel of a boutique agency to give the proper attention campaigns deserve. I knew that it would require sacrifice, but I knew the company would bring the type of clientele and existing clients that would be mutually fulfilling.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a publicist and founder/ CEO of Kelly K Public Relations Inc. I created this firm to bring a specialized creative to the world of Public Relations. The world of publicity is no easy task. It requires an immense attention to detail and a lot of elbow grease. They say “It takes a village to raise a child”, but in entertainment we say, “It takes a village to take care of a celebrity”. Kelly K PR utilizes its partnering firms to create a personalized PR campaign to customize and maximize the clients exact needs. Each firm has unique strengths. The concept was born to give the heavy lift each campaign deserves yet provides necessary communication of a boutique firm to meet client expectations. We cater to every genre of public figure lanes; Film, Music, Celebrity, Influencer, Entrepreneur, Lifestyle, Sports, Brands, Events, Fashion, Politics, Crisis Management, Breaking News etc etc

I am mostly proud of the positive impact myself and my partners have made in the Entertainment Community. We pride ourselves on helping others succeed and doing that with integrity. We believe that everyone can win and sharing the stage/ space with others that allow the world to grow in harmony.

I have worked in entertainment since the age of 13. I had an agent and was introduced to modeling and music at an early age. However, I was not a fan of the limelight nor attention. My focus quickly targeted behind-the-scenes action/ production and the business side of entertainment which grabbed my attention. I loved connecting people and making others shine. I worked on films and editorial campaigns throughout the years. I got to work with legends like David La Chapelle and Charlotte Tilbury to name a few. I went to The Master’s College and received a Bachelor’s Degree while still working in production. I got started in publicity when I was on a film set and Penny Marshall told me, “Kelly do you know what you are? You’re a publicist.” I said “What’s that?” Penny then said, a wonderful person that connects their media friends to their celebrity friends.” I wouldn’t say the road to publicity firm owner has been easy by any stretch, but I do like challenges. The best things in life are worth the climb. I have been blessed to meet like minded individuals that create an amazing team. Your circle is imperative to success. I have learned that there are no shortcuts in life. You must put in hard work to achieve and it’s never easy. But that usually means you’re on your path. I think especially in this day and age where instant gratification is everywhere, it is imperative to set that example to the younger generations. Honesty, loyalty and hard work will never fail you. In a business where everything is public, when you do the job and do it with all your might, the right clients will always be there.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
All my best friends know when they come to my little tucked away mountain town hidden in L.A., they will have a relaxed time viewing the mountains and get to visit the local watering hole and our local favorite Mexican Restaurant . But it’s hidden and not busy so I want to keep it that way 😉

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
