We had the good fortune of connecting with Keltouma Chahidi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keltouma, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting L’Workshop was like embarking on a journey to bridge two worlds I deeply love: the rich traditions of Morocco and the endless possibilities of modern technology in education. I saw a big opportunity to make learning more engaging and accessible for Moroccan kids, blending our cultural heritage with innovative educational methods. It’s not just about using tech for the sake of it but making it meaningful, making sure that as we step into the future, we’re not leaving behind the essence of who we are.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
L’Workshop is a pioneering endeavor that stands out for its dedication to interweaving the rich Moroccan cultural tapestry with the boundless potential of modern educational technology. This unique approach to learning is designed to be both engaging and accessible, specifically tailored to the needs and heritage of Moroccan youth.

The journey of L’Workshop began with a vision to blend meaningful technology with the core of our Moroccan identity, ensuring that we advance without losing sight of our roots. The path to where we are today was not without its challenges. It required a deep commitment to innovation, a willingness to take calculated risks, and the courage to introduce new ideas within the Moroccan context.

Overcoming these obstacles was a matter of strategic financial planning, a focus on sustainable growth, and a belief in the transformative power of education. We’ve learned that each decision must be made with the long-term future in mind—investing in assets that add lasting value to our educational mission.

I am most proud of L’Workshop’s resilience and the lessons learned along the way. Humility, diligence, and an eagerness to grow have been our guiding principles. These lessons have shaped our journey, revealing that success is a continuous learning process.

The brand’s story is rooted in my personal experience, transitioning from a small village to the city’s bustling environment. This taught me the importance of dreaming big and the value of knowledge—elements that are deeply ingrained in L’Workshop’s ethos.

As an entrepreneur and a mother, I have faced the intricate dance of balancing business and family. This dual role has taught me the power of adaptability, resilience, and humor.

We aspire for L’Workshop to be recognized not only in Morocco but internationally as an innovator in education that respects and elevates cultural heritage through technology. Our aim is to leave behind a legacy that not only bridges cultures but also ignites a passion for learning across the globe.

L’Workshop’s narrative is one of embracing our heritage while forging new paths in education—a story of a brand that believes in the synergy of culture and innovation to create a learning journey that resonates with every Moroccan child.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Bringing a friend to my area, I’d want them to experience the authentic essence of life here, especially the vibrant and earthy vitality of the Atlas villages. It’s not just about the places; it’s about the deep connection with the culture and nature.

We’d explore the serene beauty of places like Ighil, where the blend of natural landscapes and traditional living is simply breathtaking. I’d make sure we try local delicacies, such as tagine cooked in a traditional earthen pot, and bread baked over an open fire, which tastes of the earth and the sky.

The essence of the experience lies in the simple, profound joy of sharing a meal with locals, understanding the intricate patterns of a Berber rug, or feeling the cool, clear water of a mountain stream. It’s these moments, steeped in the authenticity and warmth of village life against the backdrop of the majestic Atlas Mountains, that I believe truly capture the spirit of our region.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In the journey of L’Workshop, every milestone achieved and every hurdle crossed has been a testament to the incredible constellation of support around us. At the heart, our families have been our unwavering pillars, instilling in us the resilience and ambition to dream big. Our friends, the companions through every high and low, continuously fuel our drive with their belief and camaraderie.

We owe immense gratitude to our local community, especially to the nurturing ecosystems like the Innovation City of Souss Massa, Orange Corner Caravane, and Fondation Hiba, whose invaluable support has been a beacon of guidance and empowerment for us. Their commitment to fostering innovation has provided us not just with resources, but with a sense of belonging and purpose.

A special shoutout goes to the mentors, trainers, and partners who’ve believed in our vision, enriching our journey with their wisdom and expertise. Their faith in us has been both a privilege and a powerful motivator.

To all these incredible individuals and institutions, thank you for being part of our story. Here’s to continuing this remarkable journey together, with hearts full of gratitude and eyes set on the horizon of possibilities.”
