We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendra Price and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kendra, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
In true Libra fashion, I live my life focused on balancing all of my needs with the needs of my family and important relationships. Balance comes in many forms throughout each phase or chapter of my life. What  I need in order to feel balanced changes as I grow and experience. 10 years ago, my work/life balance looked like staying home with my first born daughter and providing mobile skin care services to friends and close clients. Currently, balance for me is thriving in my passion, obtaining enough time to properly parent two young girls, making room for dating my husband, honoring my body by keeping it moving and healthy, and staying present and still so I can expand my mindfulness.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

As with most budding entrepreneurs, my business is my baby. It has grown from being a place where I can be the best at my craft in the building, to being a sought after specialized aesthetic provider in my entire zip code. At Happyfaces.co our passion for aesthetics is fueled by the feelings of joy, pride, and satisfaction that surface for each valued client after taking the time to address their specific skin concerns or needs. Through thorough research and adaptation of the most effective and current skin treatments, we believe in providing speciality skin services utilizing advanced technique and exceptional care.

As owner/protocol developer, I am most proud of the fact that I have taken all of my best attributes over the years and put them towards taking the best care of my adored clientele. Each treatment chosen for each client is done with delicate precision and pure determination of achieving true skin change. The goal is always to improve the way clients view their naturally bare face and build true confidence in being happy in their skin.

My own acne struggles in high school did a number on my self esteem. Those negative feelings about what I was seeing in the mirror stuck with me through formative years that steered me into not realizing my own self worth. When I chose to become an Esthetician, it was this experience that I drew from and that ultimately ignited the ever-growing fire of learning the best way to help someone else improve their own self talk. With this “mission statement” in mind, I created Happyfaces.co as a safe space for clients to dive deep into aspects of their lives, habits, and mentalities that may be causational in their current skin concerns. Jumping into solo entrepreneurship based on the improvements I have made with my own self talk, proved to myself and my supporters that I do have what it takes to succeed at this passion. As with a lot of new business owners, I am learning abundantly as I go and lean heavily into the resources and connections that I have made through the years. 18 years as an aesthetic provider and I STILL learn new things all the time.

I want people to view Happyfaces.co as a place of peace, serenity, and skin/life balance. In this treasured space, they will find trust, no judgement, honest troubleshooting, and self accomplishment. Partnering with us on their skin journey will help cultivate a place of healing that will be holistically beneficial .

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I was showing an out of state friend around, I would start with brunch at a local well reviewed eatery with bottomless mimosas. On a full tummy and relaxed spirits, we would then be on our way to receive a 5 star holistic spa service at The Raven Spa  followed by a quick sauna sesh at Sweat Shack. A healthy picnic and a nap on Manhattan Beach would end this self care day. In the days to follow, we would explore museums and art exhibits that are staples within our community. We would travel north to Solvang and enjoy wine tasting at locally operated vineyards. Stepping away, for a moment, from the hustle and bustle of the city. Their visit would wrap up with attendance of a soulful musical concert at Hollywood Bowl or a local jazz club.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In the 18 years of my aesthetic career, I have many shoutouts that I can attribute to my professional growth. First and foremost is my mother. Without her, I would not have the work ethic that I do today, which has proven to push me through my career into management and training roles that have been essential in sharpening my skills and confidence. Next, I’d like to shoutout the very first Esthetician I worked with at a plastic surgery clinic. Rachel took me under her wing and poured a bunch of skin knowledge into my eagerly new esthetician sponge-like brain that planted seeds of continuous curiosity. During the “spa years” of my career, my direct managers Tracy and Liz were key in assisting my growth of knowledge and professional trust that allowed me to be assertive in stepping out of my comfort zone into the thriving zone of my passion that I am currently experiencing. In this new aesthetic world of social media connections, there are many new relationships that I am presently developing based on shared passion and desire for community and support. These fellow Estheticians and wellness practitioners continue to add tremendous fuel to my fire. To name just a few are: Ashely Curtis (@agelessashley), Raya Schwartz (@bosses_in_beauty), Josh Maniscalco (@agentrx), Mikaela MacLean, and Amaju (@amareaesthetics). There are many more to list, but they all know how much love and respect I have for them. I find it imperative to surround myself with professional personalities that I admire to truly advance my self improvement. Lastly, and most importantly is the shoutout to my husband Tony. His uninterrupted support of my chosen career path has been the cornerstone of my success. His faith in my abilities help keep me on track and provide constant reminders that I am worthy of any type of accomplishment I desire. While timing and divine intervention hold as the true catalysts, success is ever-changing and looks differently for each of us.
