Meet Kenneth Davis | Graphic and Web Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenneth Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kenneth, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting my own business was simple. I needed to stop providing my services for free or small fees to friends, and start offering my services to the world. I needed to take advantage of these skills that I have, and stop holding myself back. It came a time where I needed to realize that I was gifted, and take advantage of these gifts. A friend from my past once told me in college ” With all the skills you have, you should never be broke.” That statement stuck with me. So I began my side hustles with creating party flyers and snap chat filters and selling them. I would also create simple websites in Adobe Dream Weaver for myself and others for small fees. I practiced my design skills to the point where I was comfortable enough to start advertising my services online. That was my biggest hurdle. Realizing I was good enough at what I did and start advertising to the masses, and charging my worth for it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Being a Graphic and Web Designer is not easy. You are constantly pushed to come up with new and creative ideas, and bring your clients’ visions to life. I love the challenge of being presented with a client’s products and creating an online platform for them to sell their products.
The product I am most proud of in the design world is the fitness and training website I built for Prototype Players Training. There are a few reasons why I am proud of this website. First, I am a product of this company’s training myself. I used to play football for West Los Angeles Football for Coach Lowe and Coach Marques. Now things have come full circle as I have created a website where they can offer their training services to the world. I’m super proud to be apart of their journey in teaching and training today’s athletes.
It was not easy getting to where I am today. From learning to code, explaining the build and hosting process to clients, while also scaling which has not been easy. I have learned a lot of tough lessons along the way, as well as how to make my job easier. Overall it has been a fun ride.
I want people to know that a lot of personal love and care is poured into all my projects. That is what makes my brand. The attention to detail. The constant review of my work to find even the smallest detail that could be maximized , and then changing it. The constant upgrading of small details that allow my clients to have the most optimal, visually pleasing and functional site is always my goal. That is why the brand is Diligent Web Design. I make sure to do my due diligence on any project I take on.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First we would start locally here in Long Beach CA. We would hit Vibes Cafe for brunch to kick things off. This is a nice spot a couple blocks from the beach and the marina with great food and drinks. From there we would hit 2nd and PCH to do a little shopping and then later hit Nicks on 2nd for dinner. If we were in the party mood we would maybe bar hop a little on 2nd street.
Over the next few days we would make it a point to hit downtown LA. Check out a few museums down there, catch a Laker game, and then shoot over to Beverly hills to grab some pizza from Berri’s Pizza.
Definitely would hit a hike at Del Cerro park to get some good views of nature and the ocean, followed up by some dinner at Joey’s Restaurant later that night in Manhattan Beach. Another hike that would be great to hit is Runyon Canyon followed up by some drinks at the rooftop pool at the W Hotel.
These are spread out throughout the city, but definitely some of my favorite spots.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The person I would love to give a shout out to is my partner Anastasia Locklin. She owns her own private therapy practice here locally in Long Beach. She is driven, dedicated, successful while also an empathic and authentic entrepreneur. Watching her pour countless hours into her work day and night motivated and pushed me in getting started in starting my business. She likes to live a certain lifestyle, so she works hard to achieve and maintain it. Witnessing her put in the effort to build and nurture her business from the ground up has been very inspiring. I can’t say I would be exactly where I am today without the guidance of my partner.
