We had the good fortune of connecting with Keren Nicole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keren, why did you pursue a creative career?
Since the age of five I’ve always been passionate about fashion and modeling. Around the age of 10 my parents put me in an acting and modeling training, and I knew that that’s what I wanted to do. I pursued a biology path in college, and later on, a behavioral neuroscience degree for my bachelors, but my heart just wasn’t there. Don’t get me wrong, I love science and the human anatomy; it fascinates me knowing how astounding it is and how everything works, but my heart just wasn’t there. I wanted to stop trying to fit the mold and expectations my family had of me and give myself he freedom to go all in into something that I’m completely passionate and on fire about. I made the faith move to LA to fully immerse myself into what I know I’m meant to do and I can say that I haven’t been happier career-wise. My heart has always been in the fashion and modeling world, and now I’m getting to do that while also stepping into the acting and commercial world.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Starting out in the modeling industry being 5’4 was the most challenging thing I have ever done. They say you get 99 rejections before you get that one, and that’s exactly what happened with me. I knew I was being called to step in to this industry, but I didn’t know when the breakthrough was going to happen. I didn’t give up on my dream or vision, and I continue to apply myself and get better with time. I would constantly shoot, practice, and continue to apply to agencies.

And I didn’t get signed while living in Miami, and then I felt the Lord called me to New York. I didn’t know how in the world I was going to make it there seeing that it’s primarily runway and the height requirements are stricter. I got opportunities although I didn’t get signed, and I grew so much as a person. Having lived in both cities prepared me for what was to come.

COVID hit and I went back home for what I thought was a month. One month turned into two years and I am not going to lie, I felt disappointed. I felt like a failure, but that was before I realized that I needed to live out there to learn and gain the experience that I did.

During COVID I met my now agent, Jesse, and he signed me. The zoom call felt effortless and natural. I knew this is where I was meant to be signed because I didn’t feel like I had to be anyone other than myself, it just felt right.

Three months ago I moved to LA, and it’s been incredible. LA is the place for me to be, but to be here I needed to gain the experience I got in Miami and New York. It’s a different field out here, and you need to be very rooted in who you are. I am now signed with a second agency who represents me commercially, so not only am I a print model, I’m a commercial model.

Everything flows when you’re patient and believe in yourself. I’m a testimony of difficulty in the modeling agency, but it’s about the right time and the right people.

I’ve since started my own brand, Finding Keren, which is now a lifestyle brand, and it’s only growing from here. My vision is to help the everyday woman not only be her best, but feel her best. With my experience and expertise, I want to reflect everything I know and share that with the world. You need to meet yourself where you’re at. All good will come when you start there.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve recently moved to LA so I don’t know all of the cool spots, but I’d definitely take my friends hiking in Palos Verdes alongside the cliffs. It’s my favorite spot in all of California.

Then we could go for coffee at blue bottle and grab lunch somewhere in Venice.

We can go for a walk in Abbot Kinney, and then definitely hit up Heated Room for a hot Pilates session in the evening.

And to end the day, after we’ve had dinner, I’d take them to Bacio di Latte in century city for the best gelato.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would accredit my family for being my main source of motivation. They’ve always set the standard high and it’s made me the independent person that I am. I think if they weren’t so ambitious, I would never be who and where I am.

Secondly, I would give all of my credit to Jesus. My faith has brought me where I am. It’s funny how often than not people ask me how I am so confident with my decisions, and the peace and boldness I speak about it with. To be honest, if it wasn’t because of my faith in God, I wouldn’t have any of that. I’m certain God creates different paths for each person and it’s up to us to step into that faith boldly. No one else is going to do it for you, so it’s your job to step into your calling, and where He leads, He provides.

Lastly, I have really great friends that have been my support system. They’ve been with me through the journey and each have played a very valuable role in my character development. I love you guys!
