We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Our thought process behind starting the photography business was rooted in both passion and practicality. My wife and I have always shared a deep love for photography. Over time, we realized that combining our talents could be more than just a hobby it could be a business that reflects who we are as a couple. As a French-American team, we also thought our different cultural perspectives would help in creating personalized photographs in a unique and artistic way. Starting our own business allowed us to have creative freedom, build something together, and connect more personally with the people we work with.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets us apart is not only our shared love for photography, but the unique blend of experiences we bring to it as a couple. Mela studied photojournalism in France and later worked as a picture editor in Los Angeles. I studied art in New York and have worked as a VFX supervisor in Los Angeles for many years. It was not easy to start but a huge catalyst for us was when Mela lost her job last year. Rather than go back to working for someone else again she wanted the freedom to work for herself. So we took our shared hobby and turned it into a business together. She has a great ability to work with our clients and capture highly artistic and personal photos, while Im working to enhance these emotional moments from a more technical approach. We balance each other well and have created a business that brings authenticity, emotion and tells some story about each person we photograph

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We consider ourselves fairly active, Mela enjoys taking friends to one of her many all levels dance classes throughout the week. A hike up and around Griffith is great especially in the evenings for a good sunset. We would of course enjoy taking people up the coast to hang at the beach and for a surf session in Malibu. Our go to meal after many activities is a smash burger, likely from the Win-dow in Silver Lake. For late night fun we would enjoy taking someone to a live show at Zebulon with a fresh margarita. We could also recommend a film at The Vista in Los Feliz and a trip through Chinatown for some great people watching and good food.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Obviously Mela Laval plays a huge roll in what we do. It is her vision that we put at the forefront of our work. Her creativity and passion for photography was what ultimately inspired us to start this professional journey
