We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiana Moattari and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kiana, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
The affirmation I’ve recently been repeating to myself is that “I am enough”. I have found, especially over the past year, that it can be so easy to take the business too personally. It makes sense – it’s very vulnerable to be an artist. As an actor, I’ve been so lucky to have had some great wins but that does not mean that the rejections and harder periods of time haven’t been mentally taxing. All of this to say, I have really had to pause recently and realize that I don’t need to overcompensate for anything. I can see in other actors that they are good enough and worthy of succeeding, so I’ve been pushing myself to see it in me as well. But so much easier said than done!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I feel as if I’m just getting started! Acting has been an up-and-down journey for me in terms of deciding to pursue it as a career. It took a few years of trying to push down my desire to pursue an artistic path, and then realizing that doing that was not an option for me, so here we are today!

I think I’m still finding my way and my artistic voice. That’s kind of what I love about acting, and other forms of art as well, there’s never really an “end”. You can always keep editing and adding to your story. I grew up initially doing musical theater and then later took dance training very seriously, and I have ended up back in acting. I’ve always been drawn to art that tells some kind of a story so I hope through my work I can be as authentic as possible and shine a light on the stories and experiences of people. The other thing I love about acting, as both an actor and audience, is that you can forget about everything and just be present with the play, TV show, movie, etc. that you’re watching. So I also hope through my own work I can provide some dramatic or comedic escape to people when they need to unwind from the stressors of daily life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m probably Aroma’s (in Studio City) biggest fan. I’ve gone for breakfast, lunch, brunch, dinner, just coffee, all of the above and it has never disappointed. I’ve also been loving going to Montana Ave in Santa Monica, there’s Kreation Kafe and all sorts of other cute places to eat, sit for coffee, or just walk around and window shop.

We have to get ice cream, that’s non-negotiable, and my favorites are Mashti Malone’s and Bacio di Latte for gelato.

I also love exploring new places to walk or hike, I’m not an expert so I usually go off of google for those! And a day trip to Santa Barbara or a beach town in Orange County could be lovely!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Oh gosh so many people! I seriously mean that though – since moving out to LA I have been so incredibly lucky to have met the most supportive and uplifting communities of people. Mostly through classes; I’ve been so inspired and have learned so much from my fellow peers and acting coaches. It’s so amazing to have a safe space to grow as an actor. I’ve also had the privilege of meeting empowering role models and mentors who have taught me the importance of a good attitude and mindset.
