Meet Kiara Jackson | Entrepreneur & Youth Advocate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiara Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kiara, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is giving underprivileged women an opportunity that will change their lives forever. Many people think of pageantry as a glam show that only “pretty & skinny” woman partake in. I created my organization to completely change the narrative. The success of my business glorifies the importance of self confidence and individuality. It is important for my brand to help mold the mentalities of the youth. Teaching them the true definition of BEAUTY, which means to BE EDUCATED ALWAYS UNDERSTANDING the true you. The crown that queens hold, is a reminder to live in their truth and embrace their insecurities, imperfections and flaws.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets my business, Miss Gorgeous Prince George’s Teen Pageant apart from all other pageants is the training program that participants receive. 99% of the participants in my organization received a first time pageant experience from this program and transforms into exceptional superstars. Each queen walks away feeling rewarded due to this high level of achievement. One of the biggest hardships that I’ve encountered was finding the funding to support this organization. This was a vision that turned into a non-profit organization overtime. Every year I would stress out about receiving donations & sponsorships and how I will possibly be able to afford thousands of dollars on my own to put on this production. But every God made a way. Every glory has a story and I want people to know that hard work really pays off. Stay focused on your WHY and your purpose, that way when trouble comes your way you will appreciate the challenges, and feel accomplished when you overcome them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The entire DMV area is a vibe, but if I had to choose I would say any club on U street will give you the turn up/ party life you desire. Purchase a bomb outfit for brunch on Sunday, plenty of brunch spots to choose from on Connecticut Ave in DC. If you need a statement piece (a nice garment) stop by Trendsetters in Largo, MD they never disappoint. Oh and visit the MGM National Harbor website to see who is performing, they have amazing concerts listed all the time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would be all day thanking every amazing person who’ve helped me become the woman I am today, however to keep it short and to the point here we go:
-First Class Dance Studio, where I received dance training at the age of 3

SHOWTIME because of my advanced level of entertainment/showmanship.
-Charles Herbert Flowers High School “Flowers Kouture” Modeling Team is where I served as Captain for 3 years and
developed true leadership skills.
-Living Legends Entertainment a modeling troupe that perfected my performing craft.
