We had the good fortune of connecting with Kierra Dixson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kierra, what role has risk played in your life or career? 
Risk is important. I learned overtime that the biggest risk is not taking any risk. Taking risk is scary but it’s a sign that you are pushing yourself to grow and that’s incredibly important in business.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One thing about me, I love making connections! I am dedicated to enhancing client visibility, delivering high-quality service, and developing strategic communications plans that protect brands and generate awareness. As the Founder & CEO, I created the Melaninaire brand to help entrepreneurs sharpen their lens of diversity and inclusion. Our agency holds a pride of working with brands + businesses that currently have their brand foundation laid.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oowee, it would all depend. I would definitely try to maximize her experience by hiking the Hollywood Sign! Then rest and refresh for brunch + mimosas at Catch LA. We definitely would walk the Hollywood Walk of Fame, that is a must if you’ve never been to California. My best friend lives for a spa day, we would get massages and mani and pedis too! I can’t forget about shopping right after. We would visit Venice Beach for sure because she loves the beach! No trip to Los Angeles would be complete without sampling the city’s diverse nightlife scene. She would absolutely loveee the cocktails at one of the famous L.A. Tiki Bars! The trip would be top-tier, lol

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, I would like to give all praise to God for allowing me to get this far because without him I would not be where I am today. I would like to give a special thanks to all my family and friends who actually support me. Starting with my siblings, Du’Juan, Kyra, and Darius – there is no greater feeling than to have three siblings looking out for me whenever it is needed. Most importantly, I would like to give a special shoutout to my mother for always being such a great mom and instilling the wisdom and knowledge that I needed to succeed in life. Without her, there would be no me because she has taught me how to be the great intelligent woman I am today. I can go on and on but then I would be all day. Therefore, I would like to end this by saying it is an honor to have such a great mother that has always had my back.
