Meet Kim Doner | Real Estate Advisor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Doner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kim, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I worked in corporate jobs prior to becoming a Realtor and would always work for someone else as if I owned the company. I use to work overtime without pay and simply care WAY too much. I figured that if I am going to work as hard as I do to benefit someone else, I may as well work that hard to benefit my own family. My driven and disciplined personality are complimentary to being a business owner.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We look at all clients as if they will be clients for life so we treat them that way in every regard. Its never just about the deal, the sale or the transaction for us….its about the quality of our service and that we make our clients feel that not only do they have the very best representation, but also, we are their therapist, advisor and friend. I openly share my thoughts and am not afraid to voice my opinion if I do not think something is a good choice or decision. We have over 175 five star reviews on Yelp and Zillow which is something that I am very proud of and continually work hard at. The real estate business is definitely not easy but it takes consistency, discipline, dedication and simply treating it as a business and not a hobby or side hustle. I love that every day is so vastly different than the next – it keeps us on our toes and we are most certainly never bored! Its also incredibly fulfilling to have a part in helping to make our clients dreams come true and be part of such a large decision in their lives.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bestie was visiting from out of town and I wanted to show her the best week ever, it would include: bike rides on the Strand, beach time, pool time (perhaps rent a cabana at Terranea!), shopping at various boutiques in downtown Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and also in the Riviera Village. We would also hit up Hot 8 Yoga (and take a sculpt class from Erica!) and then enjoy some pampering by getting massages at Trilogy. We would enjoy meals at a variety of spots such as The Strand House, The Bullpen, Petro’s, Nick’s, Baran’s, Turkoise and Esperanza (just to name a few). We would also get some cocktails at The Fox Den and enjoy the vibe there before heading out to catch a show at Saint Rocke and/or The Comedy and Magic Club.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shoutout to all of my colleagues who inspire me every day! I love the collaborative nature of our business and admire so many of them for their talents and dedication to this challenging career. It really fuels me to see the success of others and inevitably forces me to want to be better and do better in every way! Secondly, I could not do what I do without the unwavering support from my family. I am very grateful and consider myself incredibly lucky and blessed to have the support that I have. Lastly, my Operations Manager, Lauren Andrews, who has been part of my team for the past 9 years, is really the glue that holds everything together. We operate like a well-oiled machine together and I am heavily dependent on her for so much!
