Meet Kim Gebriel | Singer/Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kim Gebriel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kim, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
By the end of my career i’d like to be a having a good work/life balance living comfortably. I’d also like to be a resource to others in similar fields or even outside of my own.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My music is rooted in emotion — it’s reflective, nostalgic, and honest.
I blend acoustic and pop elements in a way that feels soft but intentional. I think what sets me apart is that I’m not trying to be loud to be heard. My sound leans into quiet strength. I don’t mind making space for stillness in my music — because that’s often where the truth lives.
One of the things I’m most proud of at the moment is my latest release, “Surrender.” It was born out of a season of burnout and uncertainty, where I was questioning a lot about my identity and my path especially as an artist. I channeled that fog into a song, and in doing so, found clarity through the process. It reminded me that even when you don’t have all the answers, you can still create from where you are. I also got to be more immersed in the production with producer Sean Alaric by playing my guitar, not just using my voice and writing the lyrics. The song came to life from those simple guitar chords.
Getting to this point wasn’t easy.
There have been many moments of doubt — wondering if I’m doing enough, if my voice is strong enough, if people will get me. The hardest part hasn’t been writing, even though I’ve had many blocks — it’s been silencing the inner critic and learning to trust that what I have to say matters. I’ve had to learn how to advocate for myself, especially in creative spaces where I used to stay small. I’d also like to get into doing more intimate performances.
One lesson I’ve learned is that progress isn’t always loud or fast.
Sometimes it’s quiet and slow — but that doesn’t make it any less powerful. I’ve also learned that consistency and authenticity are more important than chasing trends. I’d rather build something real, even if it takes longer.
If there’s one thing I want the world to know about me and my story, it’s this:
I create from a place of truth.
Whether you’re listening to one of my songs or reading something I’ve written, I want you to feel less alone. My brand isn’t about perfection — it’s about presence. I make art that reflects where I am, and I hope it resonates with people where they are too.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit, I’d want to blend the cozy calm of where I live now with the warmth and rhythm of where I’m from. I’m an island girl living in a suburban city, so my idea of a perfect week is a mix of grounding, beauty, and a little adventure — without needing to be in the middle of the chaos.
An absolute must is a brunch at a cute café, so we can reconnect. I’d plan a little city adventure — some shopping, maybe an art gallery, and dinner somewhere with live music or rooftop views. I’m always chasing moments that feel creative and soulful.
We’d cook something inspired by home, play music. Whether we’re driving with the windows down or sharing quiet mornings with coffee, the goal is always to make space for real connection. Even though I’m far from the islands, that warmth still shows up in how I create memories with the people I love.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m grateful for the support of my loved ones (my brother, husband, best friends) who have believed in me along the way. Those close to me have pushed me to grow both professionally and creatively, and collaborators have motivated me throughout. I’m also inspired daily by the strength and stories of the amazing people around me.
