We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Heimbach and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Ladyfolk Studio’s success can largely be attributed to my focus on blending creativity with authenticity. I’ve built a brand around celebrating women’s voices, often creating empowering and relatable content that resonates deeply with my audience. The studio’s commitment to a unique aesthetic and high-quality production creating live watercolor fashion illustration guests art also plays a key role. Additionally, fostering a strong community through collaboration, creative workshops and inclusivity helps me maintain long-term engagement with my followers and live event art clients.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My live guest art portraits carry a distinctive, visually engaging style that blends minimalist design with bold, emotional expression. I like to think I have a knack for capturing raw, authentic moments through watercolor art. My use of color, textures, and geometric shapes tends to emphasize the fluidity of identity, femininity, and individual strength. This method resonates particularly with themes of empowerment and self-expression with the individuals I illustrate.

My work, whether it’s illustration, branding, or digital art, feels very modern and clean but with layers of depth that invite viewers to reflect. I like my art to speak to an understated yet powerful sense of storytelling—conveying emotions and experiences through striking visuals without needing words. The wedding industry is the perfect field for me to showcase this and it has proven successful and an experience everyone enjoys.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Spend the day in Laguna Beach with me, we would start at my studio downtown with coffee from Zinc cafe that’s across the street and a watercolor workshop with your friends where we paint beach landscapes. Then we actually head to the beach at Table Rock in South Laguna before going to Ahba for their signature cheeseburger. Then we head back to main beach for a walk through Heisler park and Laguna Art museum before headed to Bianchi winery tasting room for a cheese plate and wine pairing. Stay the night at Hotel Joaquin just across the road and wake up to lay by the pool the next day.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my husband, Ryan Heimbach, who is constantly my support with both family and my business. I thank you for your love and encouragement.
