We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimberly Sprenger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimberly, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
From the earliest moments of my life, I felt a pull towards creativity, a passion to express myself through art. Little did I know that this desire would lead me down the unexpected path of becoming a videographer. In 2011, life threw an unimaginable curveball at my family. My father was diagnosed with ALS, a devastating terminal illness. The prognosis was bleak, with doctors giving him just 2 to 5 years to live. They painted a hopeless picture of his future, describing how his body would slowly succumb to paralysis. Faced with this heart-wrenching reality, I made a conscious and intentional decision to document our lives through the lens of a camera. I wanted to preserve every moment, every smile, every word, in memory of him.

It was during this time that I shot my first wedding video for my brother. I was able to capture my fathers speech during the reception. Little did I know that this footage would become a priceless keepsake, as my father lost his ability to speak soon after. Witnessing the gradual loss of his voice reinforced the importance of capturing and preserving the essence of our loved ones, a sentiment I now carry with me in my work and has inspired me to do for others.

What should our readers know about your business?
2024 marks 10 years since I started my business. As I reflect on the past decade of running Berly Productions, I am filled with a strong sense of gratitude and fulfillment. What began as a simple passion for capturing memories and telling stories has evolved into a deeply rewarding journey of self-expression and human connection. Creating videos has become more than just a profession for me, it’s a way of articulating the beauty I see in the world and the emotions that bind us together as human beings. It has provided me with a platform to express my creativity in a meaningful and impactful way. Whether it’s a tender moment between lovers, the joy of a family celebration, or the resilience of individuals overcoming challenges, each story I have had the privilege to document has reinforced my belief in the power of human connection.
Yet, running a business is not without its challenges. I’ve navigated through highs and lows, wrestling with imposter syndrome, self-doubt and burnout along the way. But through it all, I’ve come to realize that the journey itself is where the true magic lies. Every obstacle overcome, every lesson learned, has shaped me into the person and professional I am today.
One of the greatest blessings of this journey has been the relationships forged along the way. From lifelong friends to invaluable partnerships with fellow creatives, Berly Productions has not only connected me with others but has also enriched my life in ways I could never have imagined.

But perhaps the most profound impact of my work lies in the love stories I’ve been privileged to witness and capture. Having shot over 100 weddings, each couple, each union, serves as a reminder of the depth of human emotion and the beauty of shared experiences.

As I embark on the next chapter of this journey, I carry with me a deep sense of gratitude for the experiences, the lessons, and the connections that have shaped me. Here’s to another decade of storytelling, of love, and of embracing the beauty of the human experience.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
After spending a decade exploring Los Angeles, the South Bay holds a special place in my heart. It’s where the essence of California living truly comes alive. Along the coast, you can bike the Strand from Redondo to Manhattan Beach. Hermosa Pier stands as a symbol of community and connection, it is always lively with local musicians, ranging from reggae to country. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in the area, each with its own vibe. Brothers Burritos is great for breakfast or for recovering from a night out at places like American Junkie, Lighthouse, or Tower 12, where you can catch live music every night. But it’s not just about the activities; it’s the people who make this place truly special. You can always find a familiar face here.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My father, the epitome of resilience and perseverance, became the soul of my business and the driving force behind everything I do. I grew up admiring his tireless work ethic and charming charisma as he led our family’s third-generation construction company in our small town. His ability to connect with others in a deep genuine way was truly remarkable. He was everyone’s confidant and friend. He had a way of bringing out joy, light and laughter in everyone around him. When he was diagnosed, it wasn’t just our family that felt the impact; it devastated our entire community. His recent passing in October 2022 after living with ALS for 12 years, during which he endured 8 years of speechlessness and reliance on a ventilator and a feeding tube, has left a void that can never be filled, yet I am determined to honor his memory and carry on his legacy in everything I do.
My father approached life with an infectious enthusiasm, cherishing each day with childlike wonder and gratitude. He never took a single moment for granted. Inspired by his zest for life, I strive to live each day with the same passion and appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us.
Though he may no longer be with us physically, his spirit remains present, guiding me forward as I continue to pursue my passion for storytelling through videography. In honoring his memory, I aim to capture not just moments, but the essence of life itself — the laughter, the love, the fleeting moments that make it all worthwhile. For me, and for my dad, every frame tells a story, a testament to the enduring power of love and human connection.
