We had the good fortune of connecting with Kira and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kira, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always been artistic since I was young. I really leaned into it as a teen into physical art and pole dancing as an adult. Being a naturally creative person it made sense to continue creative paths.

I got into pole dance randomly with a friend one day and enjoyed different ways our bodies can move and bend into a variety of moves. Along with the sensuality aspects intrigued me. It eventually lead me to work in clubs as an exotic dancer and later as a pole instructor.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Art has always been a part of my life. Although, I wasn’t a dancer until my adult life. I started off pole dancing as a hobby and quickly fell in love with the movement and body connection. I began working in strip clubs soon after and it increased my love of pole. I then performed in pole showcases and grew deeper in community with other adult entertainers and pole enthusiasts.

My teaching career began about 2 years ago when a former instructor invited me to work at her studio. Although it didn’t last long, it pushed me into another avenue of pole. I currently work at 2 studios in the IE and LA which I couldn’t do without the constant practice and work I put into my craft. As well as the support I’m given from my peers.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My biggest love of LA is all the street vendors; tacos and elotes especially. If I could spend every waking moment eating Mexican food, I would. I greatly appreciate LA (and Southern California in general) for being such a cultural food hub. More importantly, all the people of color that bring it such diversity and community.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Those around me play a huge part in my career as well as being a part of my community. The studios that allow me to teach and grow Studio Eden in Los Angeles and Secret Pole Dance Studio in Rancho Cucamonga. My close circle of friends and family guide and support me everyday.
