We had the good fortune of connecting with Kitty Noir and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kitty, how do you define success?
Success isn’t defined by material possessions or riches, in my opinion. I define success by a person’s character. Are they grounded? Are they slow to anger, rich in kindness? Do they put others before themselves? Do they do honorable deeds? This is how I define success. In the music industry, it’s so hard to find like-minded people. Everyone is trying to take something from you, which is why I am very selective about who I work with nowadays.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m most proud of my album “Child of Heaven.” As a recovering alcoholic/addict, this album was the breaking point, my rock bottom, before I made the decision to turn my life around. I’ve had so many wonderful opportunities in my music career, such as attending social events, red carpets, collaborative studio sessions with successful artists, and even being invited to James Cameron’s “Avatar” premiere. Nothing was easy. I wrote my first single “Never Go Back,” which went viral on TikTok, advocating for millions of healthcare workers during the Covid-19 Pandemic. I watched and learned from a handful of multi-platinum producers and engineers. Then I took my newly acquired skills and started working alone in my home studio. Hard work, sleepless nights in the studio, investing in myself, adversity, and feeling the need to prove myself to my adoptive family that I can make something out of myself pushed me to work hard for this dream. I was bullied in school for being the only Asian kid in an all white private school. I overcame these challenges by learning how to be confident in myself. I no longer need external validation, music is an art form that originates from the soul. My art is my art. My life is my life. No one else’s. I want the world to know that you can do anything you set your mind to. If you can think of it, envision it, even feel it, you can make it happen. Half measures avail us nothing. Put the work in day in and day out and you can make your dreams come true!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spot is Mount Hollywood, I grew up hiking around there with my (adoptive) great grand grandparents. I love Griffith Observatory, to be honest I haven’t been inside since I was a kid. Another favorite spot of mine is Malibu, which has some amazing surf breaks and restaurants! Say you’re making a trip out to LA, definitely see the Santa Monica pier, explore Venice Beach, take a surf lesson, shop at The Santee Alley for a unique experience, and dining in the cultural towns is the best to experience a different way of life right here in LA!
