Meet Kohl Marzetta

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kohl Marzetta and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kohl, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My work life balance has changed quite a bit since I have chosen to start taking acting seriously. I used to have a ton of time on my hands that would end up going to playing video games, mindless scrolling, or procrastinating in every way possible. Now that I’ve grown up a bit and have been given the chance to take a step back I found use for that time. I started putting more focus into my craft(s). I spend more time working on my characters, writing scripts, writing songs, studying, reading, and just allowing myself to work harder and chase that dream that I’m after. I started to take away the little things I didn’t really need. I started playing video games a whole lot less, I don’t go out as often, I’ve put time limits on my devices, and I’ve made a promise to myself that I don’t let distractions like that get in the way. I think this balance is great for me, because I love what I do and that’s the life I want to live. I just have to work for it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
A big part of how I got to where I am as an artist is through the love and support from those around me. Now this did make the choice to pursue my passion in the arts easier, I wouldn’t say it has made the journey easy. It had been said and is repeatedly told to us as creatives that only 1% of the people in this industry really make it. This brings up a lot of questions “Am I good enough?”, “Why me not them?”, “Can I really do this”, etc. Thankfully I’ve been able to overcome these challenges because I have the love and support of my friends, family, and The Church who keep lifting me up when I’m feeling down or feeling like I’m not enough. I’ve learned that none of this is going to be easy, you’re going to be told no, you’re going to be pushed to the side, and it’s going to be very difficult, but I’ve got to be stupid enough to try. I want the world to know that I’m here to tell stories, share life, and make them smile.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a huge foodie, I love to eat and try new foods. Some of the best places I’ve been to here in the city would first be “Oste” it’s this wonderful Italian cuisine. I take all of my friends there when they come in town to visit, I highly recommend any of the pizzas and the truffle fries. It’s warm, it’s cozy, and it’s straight up delicious. Another place to check out is “Luv2Eat Thai Bistro”, I get something different there every time I go and it’s always a fantastic meal, highly recommend that as well. If you’re feeling a little more Pizza “Lil Toni’s” is a great late place to grab a pie. I will always recommend a beach day, I love just getting out on the sand and running around with my friends, it lets you loosen up after a stressful/busy week. Plus who doesn’t like just being outside and having some fun!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Parents/Family: who have always pushed me to be my best, always making me put in the extra work to make sure I make the best of things. Funa Vaenuku: My wonderful girlfriend who I have had by my side for several years now. Always giving me reassurance, encouragement, and love.
Thomas Dalton & Jillian Johnson: My first and some of the most influential acting teachers I’ve had. They’ve contributed to so much of the passion I have for acting. They built such a strong foundation for me and I’m beyond grateful for them as mentors.
Then last but not least… The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and all the blessings that come from it.
