Meet Koray Ozsou | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Koray Ozsou and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Koray, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is a quality I call ‘Productive Obsession.’ When I find something I’m passionate about, I don’t just participate,I immerse myself entirely. It becomes my world.
What makes this a success factor for me is that it’s an unending, cumulative process. I never start a new challenge from zero; I carry the discipline, the technical ‘know-how,’ and the intense focus from my previous obsessions into the next one. This allows me to build a very diverse and powerful toolkit over time.
This drive is defined by two core pillars:
A Global Identity: Having traveled the world multiple times, I haven’t just seen different cultures; I’ve lived them. This immersion has shaped my personality and my work in the most unique way possible. It allows me to connect dots and understand perspectives that others simply don’t see, making my approach both universal and highly adaptable.
The Athlete’s Foundation: My background as an athlete in my early years built a permanent ‘drive’ in me. Sports are incredibly honest the results don’t lie. It taught me at a young age to be painfully honest with myself. That self-awareness is what pushes me to improve and get better every single day. I don’t settle for ‘good enough’ because that athlete’s mindset is still the engine behind everything I do.
Ultimately, my success comes from this blend of deep-dive mastery, a global perspective, and the discipline to always stay honest about my growth.”

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Success is never easy; it requires a complex mix of diverse skills, a resilient mindset, and constant evolution. On every project, I set a challenge for myself: never repeat the same thing twice. Even though I have my own ‘signature’ style, I strive to reinvent and refine it every single time. It takes more work, but it ensures my craft never becomes stagnant.
Like in any high-level discipline, problems and negative thoughts are inevitable on the journey. However, one of my most powerful weapons is my mental recovery time. I’ve trained myself to acknowledge a problem, process the negative state of mind, and move on quickly. I don’t stay in the ‘down’ state. I pivot immediately back to solutions and progress.
That resilience the ability to keep my craft fresh while maintaining total control over my mental state is what allows me to survive and thrive in tough, high-stakes environments.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I find a lot of my inspiration in the Arts District; it has so many great spots that keep me creative. To reset, I love hitting the road for a ride through the Malibu canyons and the creeks in Las Flores. it’s where I go to clear my head and recharge.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I believe that success is never a solo journey it’s about the synergy of the community you build around you. I’ve been incredibly blessed to be surrounded by a circle of high-level, talented people who inspire me and push me to do more. When you’re part of a community that supports and challenges each other, it raises your individual bar.
At the same time, I thrive on the challenge of cross-disciplinary growth. Jumping between different disciplines is incredibly demanding and requires a massive amount of work, but that’s exactly what keeps me sharp and keeps the work alive for me.
I’m fully aware that the ‘battle’ I’m stepping into is tough and the competition is fierce. That reality doesn’t intimidate me; it motivates me. I’m committed to the process of getting better every single day because I know that in a high-stakes environment, constant self-improvement isn’t just an option it’s a necessity. I’m ready to see exactly how far this drive can take me.
