Meet Kris Lov | Designer of Minimonikini brand

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kris Lov and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kris, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued a creative career because I wanted to challenge the boundaries society places on women and their bodies. My background is in architecture, and through design, I found a language that lets me speak to something deeper than trends — freedom. I’ve seen too many women with beautiful bodies afraid to try on certain clothes because they believe they “shouldn’t” wear them. I wanted to change that.
Creating fashion — especially pieces that are bold, open, and unapologetically sensual — is my way of telling women they can wear whatever they want and feel powerful doing it. I wanted to give them that permission and design garments that don’t just fit, but transform how they see themselves. That’s what drives me creatively.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work is rooted in a mix of architectural thinking and radical femininity. I don’t just create garments — I build forms that challenge perception. What sets me apart is my obsession with balance: between openness and structure, between sensuality and strength. Every piece I design is an invitation for a woman to step into her most daring, beautiful self — without compromise.
I started minimonokini because I couldn’t find what I wanted to wear: minimal, bold, high-quality pieces that didn’t scream for approval, but whispered confidence. The journey wasn’t easy — especially when you’re doing something different in an industry that loves sameness. But I stayed close to my vision, and I kept listening to real women. That’s where I always draw inspiration.
What I’ve learned is that women are ready — starving even — for permission to enjoy themselves, their bodies, and their power. I’m proud that my work helps unlock that.
I want the world to know that minimonokini was never about swimwear. It was always about pleasure — and the freedom to claim it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve been living in Bali for three years now — it’s the heart of my brand and the place where minimonokini was born. It’s the island of gods and oceans, freedom and independence. If my best friend came to visit, I’d take them to my favorite cliffs, volcanoes, and hidden waterfalls. We’d dance under the stars at open-air clubs, because Bali is not just mystical and sacred — it also hides a vibrant, hedonistic nightlife.
I’d give them the full yin-and-yang experience — wild, soulful, unforgettable.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve always loved wearing minimalist pieces and bold swimsuits — the kind that are simple in form but striking in presence. But I constantly felt let down by what the market had to offer: poor quality, repetitive designs, and a lack of personality.
People would often ask me, “Where did you get that?” and the truth was — I could never give a satisfying answer. So I decided to create something unique. Something open, daring, and high quality — a collection that reflected my own vision and stood apart from the generic brands that all looked the same.
That’s how minimonokini was born — from a personal need, a design-driven mind, and a desire to give women something they couldn’t find anywhere else
