We had the good fortune of connecting with Krista Driver and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Krista, what inspires you?
A few years ago, I would have said I was inspired by the BIG success stories; Oprah, Brene Brown, Maya Angelou and etc… They still inspire me with the poignant quotes that so eloquently sum up an emotion or motivate me to do or be something.

These days though, that has shifted for me… Now I’d say I’m inspired by the untold stories; by the people who are literally responsible for the food on our tables or taking care of our elderly and sick, the quiet one’s we never hear from, but desperately need. THOSE people inspire me.

What should our readers know about your business?
As the CEO of a nonprofit counseling center, my job is to raise the money to support our programs. Me. An introvert who also happens to be incredibly shy (those two things are not the same) and I much prefer animals to people and home to office. So, has it been easy you ask? Not one bit.

I felt a little awkward before COVID. Like I never really figured out how to feel comfortable with a groups of people. Since the pandemic, I feel extra awkward. Like I’m not convinced I shouldn’t be allowed to wear pj’s to the office and only take Zoom meetings. The struggle is real.

The above mentioned can be reconciled with a “mind-over-matter” approach. Which leaves the other part of my job as strategic planning and implementation of programs. This is my sweet spot. Well, the idea part of it anyway. I’m good at creating a vision or bring contours to a project, but I’m not very good at pulling off the implementation. That is when I bring in individuals that thrive in that space and can bring that plan to life. Together we make a life altering impact for others.

So to sum that up, I’ve learned when to ask for help and when to work collaboratively vs independently and that I don’t have to be a master of all ~ I can just do my best and allow others to join me to meet the deliverables.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, my world is pretty small and my life boils down to two things 1. work 2. caretaking for my 80 yo mother and two handicapped adults and gazillion animals. But thinking back to a time, long long ago (just before COVID) I did have friends visiting from Alabama. Naturally, they wanted to see and experience LA.

So, I took them up to the Magic Castle – which was a really neat experience. After that we drove around Rodeo Drive and hit some spots they’ve seen on t.v. shows or heard about.

LA is expansive and tucked away are little gems like the Magic Castle and boutique restaurants and shopping <- if you like that sort of thing i.e. people-y sorts of things.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I know this is where I’m supposed to jump in with a thanks to my executive coach, Jerri Rosen or the incredible women that have mentored me over the years, but today the only person I want to give credit to is my adoptive mother… The woman that packed my lunches every day with a little note inside and who made sure I had everything I needed to be successful at anything I set my mind to.
