Meet Kristian (Angelino) Ward | Artist, Producer, Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristian (Angelino) Ward and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristian (Angelino), we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process was just to do it. I had no plan at all other than trusting the journey and that everything I needed I would acquire in the process. As an artist, overthinking often causes us to get in our way, which is why I elected to ignore the need to be perfect and just put myself out there.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’d say what sets me apart is how I’ve chosen to embrace my vulnerability. I’ve been known to be a very emotional person and that is indeed how I find my voice when I create. What I feel about a loved one now gone or how the smell of a flower could summon the joys of my grandmother’s front yard. I feel everything, and I hope to inspire others to do the same. Embrace that part of yourself you hide behind your ego and feel it all.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I were to take my friend on a week-long trip I’d start first with a local hidden gem that has the best eats and drinks to start the week off with a good night. Then I’d look to get out in the city in the daytime, whether it be a local farmers market or a thrift store maybe even a bike ride through the city just anything to get out of the house and embrace the beauty in the various cultures that surround us. Definitely would have to hit a local record shop and grab a slice from a trusted pizza place because it’s NECESSARY. Pizza is by far one of the most underrated quick bites and when you’re out on the city it’s an absolute must. I’d then follow that kind of day up with a grill out right at home. Homemade drinks, a few games, and laughs followed by a good meal cooked by yours truly are sure to warm the soul. If you pair that with some throwback songs from the 80s all the way to today’s music, there is no other way to let loose and feel close to those you call family. Lastly, we’d go see a local attraction, anything from some stand-up comedy to a wrestling show or maybe even live performances, I love seeing people express themselves, it’s an inspiring experience that all of us should encounter more often.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without a doubt, I’d say that the artist I’ve become is 100% due to the foundation that my mother and father laid out for me. My father being an underground hip-hop artist and graffiti legend not only lit the way for me to be able to craft my expression but kept me tapped into the essence of being a creator. I would also like to thank the various family members and friends who have helped mold me along the way. Without the shared experiences and guidance received, I have no idea how things could’ve turned out.
