We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristine Kimmel & Danielle Koenig and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristine Kimmel & Danielle Koenig, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Our favorite affirmation is “Remain Calm.” We adopted the phrase as our show motto because, in a survival situation, experts nearly always advise you to “remain calm.” Are you lost in the desert? Remain Calm. Parachute won’t open? Remain Calm. Your head stuck in the jaws of a hungry bear? Well, that’s a tough one.
We loved “Remain Calm,” so much we splashed the phrase across our merchandise. Aside from an emergency, we also think it’s great life advice!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
How to Survive With Danielle & Kristine is a comedy podcast that is equal parts how to survive the stuff that might actually kill you (earthquakes, bears, nuclear war) and the stuff that just makes you wish you were dead (break-ups, being fired, being a bridesmaid). What sets us apart from the experts doling out advice on other podcasts is that we aren’t experts! Aside from being avid podcast listeners and guests on other podcasts, we use our combined experience writing for television to craft compelling episodes to entertain our listeners. We are having a great time, and we hope our audience is too.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We have to shout out to the podcast Never Not Funny for being a massive supporter of our show. We are so grateful for their unending support and advice along the way. We are fortunate to have such a talented producer/editor and jack- of- all trades, Garon Cockrell on board. He makes us sound great and adds a lot of extra humor and warmth to our show. Mike Henry was instrumental (music pun!) in creating and recording our theme song. He was also an awesome guest, check out his episode #22 on kittens! This podcast would not exist without the early inspiration of Jessie Gaskell, an immensely talented comedy writer who shares an excellent raccoon story in episode #6.
