Meet Krystal Dinsberg | Comedy TV Writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Krystal Dinsberg and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krystal, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always been a writer. Seriously, when other little kids wrote about their feelings in diaries, I was using mine to create worlds and stories. I first began to fill out pages in journals in middle school.
Since I’m a military daughter and moved quite a bit growing up, being creative led me to finding my groups of like minded individuals in every place we lived. Theater and writing were a way for me to use my energy in a way that transported me and gave me an extended semi-family. I truly feel that because I was collaborating for most of my life, I was being prepared for my chosen career field as an adult.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I entered the world of TV writing with absolutely no connections. I’d kept my foot in the door by working indie productions and was able to thankfully make a transition to reality television. A writer had referred me to that position and I jumped at the chance to be involved in a production with such a professional team!
It definitely hasn’t been an easy road as it was a learning curve to learn the “business” side of television from a corporate America mindset, but I’m so thankful that I hung in there because now I understand the way things are run. Also, understanding more about relationships—how key and vital they are to your success in this industry! My goal is to help females of color know that when you’re tapped to start a new career path and pursue your goals, it’s okay to take a chance and encourage them to answer the call!…You never know just who you’ll meet along the way.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many great spaces in LA, one in particular is The Front Yard. It’s a great place to take a meeting. I truly love any place with ethereal and laid-back vibes . I’d also take my friends to coffee shops, because well…we love coffee.I also like leisurely shopping in Pasadena and enjoying a drink on a rooftop with scenic views. Unwinding is my favorite activity when Im in LA.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Besides my parents supporting my creative brain, there are several people that have supported me in my journey: Hallie Cantor, Daley Haggar, Britt Matt, Jamila Webb, Jackie Penn, and Bea Chahin just to name a few! (Also, support the WGA!!)
