We had the good fortune of connecting with Krystan Pencil and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Krystan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I actually have 3 businesses and 1 that I help with. Ill explain all of them.

Tantalizing Tigers and Lucid Lions: I started this business 7 years ago. I really wanted to create a collective that was accepting to new artists and accept any artist no matter how long they have been doing their craft! My thought process of all this was we all need a place to grow without judgement and my collective definitely helps with that. We strive to not look down on others and strive to be the best example we can be for others.

Hekate: My music career, I am a EDM DJ its not much of a business, but I wanted to add this in here because I treat it as a real job and take it seriously,

Designs By Hekate: I started this business when covid hit. I was out of a job so my creative side kicked in. This was able to help me stay afloat during those hard times. I still create when I have time. I make macramé jewelry, paintings, I have pins and just a wide range of things in my shop!

Goth Wook Clique Compound: Just this year I’ve been helping out with a new event venue in Cleveland. We strive to make sure we give you a safe spot to attend events. We have fully staffed security, a safety room, vendor room, free water and a trained red cross team located onsite at all times.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Hekate: My 6 year musical journey has been so amazing, Seeing where I was 6 years ago to now is just absolutely surreal. I worked very hard to brand my self and stand out as best as I can with my music. If you have ever seen a Hekate set you know they are pretty unique. I show off my metal side by playing a lot of mashups by hit rock bands, I mix in with deathcore, metalstep and dubstep and on occasion I’ll sing and scream in my sets! My persona is very scary dressed the real life Death Metal Witchy Goth DJ. I have a bunch of events coming up, but one I am most excited for is Big Dub Festival in PA. I’ve been applying for about 2 years now and I finally got accepted, which was a huge accomplishment, Very excited to see what the future holds in this musical journey.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would most likely take them to Lost Lands Music Festival! If you haven’t heard of it, its truly a magical place filled with good vibes, bass music, dinosaurs ( yes, I said dinosaurs). Its truly one of the best experiences I’ve had. This festival holds a special place in my heart to because in 2018 I fire performed with the Dangerous D Shock Show, Then in 2019 and 2021 I got to DJ on the RED BULL MXT Truck( thanks you My Best Friends Party based out of Columbus OH for that opportunity) , so every time I go back those amazing memories rush over me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout a few people:

Aria Rose the owner of GWC, for not only letting me be apart of the magic that happens at our venue. But seeing my true potential as a Performer (on all aspects) This woman has supported me since the first day I met her. She pushes me to my full potential by believing in me!

Savanah Sohn: This year I asked her to be the Co-Owner for my Collective The Tantalizing Tigers. She has helped me so much tremendously with my business by booking gigs, getting us outfits, fire insurance and so much more! I really don’t know what Id do without her!

And most importantly to all my fans of Hekate. Seriously if it wasn’t for every single one of you I wouldn’t be where I am on this musical journey! Thanks for supporting me by coming to my shows and buying my merch! I seriously am so grateful for the support
