Meet Kseniia Kalchenko | Musician & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kseniia Kalchenko and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kseniia, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Yes, my favorite of all times was and stays the quote from Ukrainian novel called ”Tiger Trappers”. And it translates to something like ”Those who are brave – are always happy”. This quote became so rural to me that I tattooed it in a red symbolic color haha
Throughout my life, whenever the difficult decision comes in front of me – these words were something I always stood up by. Those who are brave – are risk takers, lovers, passionate people who always go for opportunities and better life, who choses their dreams and goals over fear and doubts.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a Musician, but also Content Creator for brands, I shot and edited campaigns, music videos and etc. But today I’m a Musician and my goal is to only be that. Not because I don’t like other things, I do, but I believe that you need to address your energy to only where your dream is, and music it is for me. It’s where the soul is, it helped me to learn vulnerability, to open up, to discipline, to take me out of the vortex I was at with everything I was doing.
The most confusing question is ”What kind of music do you make?”. Cause I think I’m at the most interesting phase right now – I’m exploring the genres, I’m traveling around cultures that are part of me and my tribe to be able to find the best way and best sound to share my story and my thoughts. I’m so happy I found myself here, and I’m proud I chose me and my dreams over all the noise that was distracting me.
I did pretty successful with my Content and Video Career so it definitely showed me that I can do everything I put my mind to – anyone can. you just gotta believe in yourself and truly chose things that make you happy, don’t tip toe around them like I did.
It’s not easy sometimes to switch things up and start fresh, but it’s gonna be easier on your soul in the end.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I can never answer right to this question cause there are so many great places to go in New York. I would definitely split their staycation for two parts – touristy, movie-like and hectic New York and then cozy home-like and romantic one.
Im a foodie person and it’d be a sin to pick one so I’ll name a few – Balthazar, Jack’s Wife Freda, Little Choc Apothecary (amazing vegan place), Ruby’s, Wildberry in South Brooklyn for the best cakes and Turkish coffee. And don’t you dare to skip New York bagels and pizza, those are truly must have.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I was very lucky to be surrounded by a lot of amazing people and mentors. First shoutout will always got to my parents, my family -who always made me feel accepted and respected. They trusted me with my life decisions since I was a kid, they approached me as their equal and this is something that gave me confidence, risk taking abilities and responsibility for my life. Shoutout to my little town by the Azov sea and all my neighbors and relatives who had to deal with me performing for them (forcefully). I was also extremely lucky to have friends who are on the same page with me and never took my adventurous and spontaneous personality as something NOT serious. They do make jokes about me taking a million classes and learning new language every day but this is part of the journey and self-exploration. How do I know I’m a born talented violinist if I never tried it ???
Anyway, everyone who is reading this now and was a part of my journey in all shape and form – this shoutout is for you!
