Meet Kush K | Australian Rapper

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kush K and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kush, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Music has always been my thing. Ever since I was a kid, I have been drawn to drums, keys, and whatever I could get my hands on. I started making beats for fun, but then I realised I love doing this. It’s a way for me to express myself, tell my story, and connect with people. Seeing how music can move people, hype them up, or even help them through things made me take it seriously. Plus, there’s no better feeling than creating something from scratch and seeing people vibe with it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My music is all about energy, vibes, and real stories. I mix rap, trap, and a bit of drill, but what makes my sound unique is the way I flow and how I bring different influences into my tracks. My debut album, “The Revelations”, is a big milestone for me. It’s a mix of everything I’ve experienced and worked for.
It wasn’t easy getting here. Being independent means you have to do everything yourself – recording, networking, promoting. But, I’ve always believed in the grind. There were times I felt stuck, but I kept pushing, learning, and improving. One thing I have learned is that patience is key. Nothing happens overnight, and you have got to stay consistent and focused. My goal is to keep making music that people connect with and just keep going bigger.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Man, we’d have the best time! Here’s how I’d plan it:
Day 1: Start with a big breakfast at Higher Ground or Top Paddock – Melbourne’s got insane coffee. Then hit up Hosier Lane for some cool street art. End the day chilling at Southbank, watching the city lights.
Day 2: Go karting at Ace Karts or maybe an escape room for some fun. Then, grab burgers from Royal Stacks and hit up IMAX for a movie night.
Day 3: Road trip down the Great Ocean Road. Stop by Bells Beach, take in the views, and grab some fish and chips in Lorne.
Day 4: Shopping day – head to Chadstone or Emporium, then eat at Chin Chin for some top-tier Asian food.
Day 5: Chill at St Kilda Beach, maybe go paddleboarding. Then grab some ice cream from Pidapipo and watch the sunset.
Day 6: Night out! Start with some rooftop drinks at Naked for Satan, then hit 170 Russell or La Di Da for a solid party.
Day 7: Recovery day – brunch at Archie’s All Day, then a lazy evening just driving around the city, playing music, and vibing.
Melbourne’s got something for everyone, but for me, it’s all about good food, good music, and just having a good time with the right people.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First off, my family. They have been super supportive even when they didn’t fully get what I was doing at first. My friends too have been there since day one, hyping me up, giving honest feedback, and just keeping me motivated. Melbourne’s music scene also played a huge role. There’s a lot of talent here, and being around other artists pushed me to keep levelling up. And of course, everyone who listens to my music shares it and supports my journey. I wouldn’t be here without them.
