We had the good fortune of connecting with Kwame Sarfo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kwame, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is a combination of relentlessness and being the child of immigrants
Relentlessness drives me to pursue my goals with unwavering determination, while being the child of immigrants has instilled in me a strong work ethic, resilience, and a hunger for success
In a believer in the notation “if you think it, you can achieve it”
So however crazy an idea may sound, just go for it. WORST case you don’t hit it but you learn so much from the experience that can be applied to something else down the line or used to provide someone insights
What should our readers know about your business?
I’d love to.
My business is Obrempong Home
We’re redefining modern home luxury by blending African artisanal craftsmanship with the opulence of Kente, one of Africa’s most recognized textiles.
Our mission is simple:
– create jobs in Ghana & share the rich culture of Ghana with the world
What sets us apart is no one in the world is creating home decor with kente cloth
The idea came to me when I was working at Walmart as an Account Executive. I was responsible for finding brands across the world that sold unique home decor items. I saw the lack of representation for African artisans and that gave me the idea to create a brand that was made in Africa by Africans
It was challenging to get things off the ground. Some of thr issues were, shopping and “lights off” in Ghana. Thankfully we’ve been able to work through these difficulties and are excited for the future.
I just want the world to know that we’re making a difference in Ghana. We’re selling more than just a pillow & blanket, we’re selling hope and providing opportunities to those who didn’t have the resources / means before
