We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyle Reinhart and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kyle, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I honestly feel like it wasn’t a choice, I’ve always had an intrinsic desire to express myself through the arts and I never really saw myself doing anything else. Before I began my music career, I always was drawing or painting and was fascinated by cinema. As a child, I used to love the soundtracks of film and they would always get stuck in my head. I got into playing the guitar when I was 10 years old because my sister wanted to learn to play the guitar and my grandfather played a little. I started taking lessons and it all kind of took off from there. I spent my teenage years, practicing 6 hours a day, sinking my teeth into music theory, writing songs, and gigging in rock bands all over the San Francisco Bay Area. After I graduated High School, I hit a crossroads. I felt like I had to either dive head-first into music or do something else. Around the same time, a family friend was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer at the age of 49 and died months later. It felt so surreal that your life could just end like that without living a full life or working towards a retirement you may never get. That experience really cemented me to follow my dreams because life is unpredictable and too short.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Composer, Guitarist, and Producer. I create music under the artist name ‘Young Lyon’ which is primarily a guitar-based instrumental project with some featured friends. I like to think of ‘Young Lyon’ as a way to express everything and anything I want musically as an artist. I graduated from Berklee College Of Music in 2023 and have begun to crack into the film scoring industry. I like to compose music that touches parts of the soul that bring out the unfamiliar desirable feelings both in ‘Young Lyon’ and in Film. I consider myself to be a very introspective person so I try to reflect that in my music. I am very blessed to come from a very supportive family that always encouraged me to follow my passion for music. I was able to attend one of the best music colleges in the world and get many opportunities to work with some great people in the industry already. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned so far is to always be working toward what I truly want and to never compromise my vision even if it feels safe to do so. I found myself at times going deep into other areas in the industry that didn’t feel true to my goals or real reasons why I began to pursue music in the first place. I’ve had to reality-check myself a few times to make sure I am still on the right path to becoming the artist and film composer I want to be.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Los Angeles has so many great places to visit! I think I would take my best friend to Venice Beach for a day and check out the Santa Monica Pier. The next day take a ride through Mulholland Drive and go to the Hollywood Bowl. I’ve enjoyed driving around Hollywood and getting a feel for the lay of the land which is not too different geographically from where I am from up in the San Francisco Bay. I am fairly new to the Los Angeles area so I would need a little more time to discover some awesome restaurants but I will say most places I’ve been to so far are phenomenal!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many important people have contributed to my journey. A big shout out to my family for being incredibly supportive of my endeavors and believing in me in the times I’ve doubted myself. Also a huge shout out to my first guitar teacher Bob Marshall who taught me the bulk of my music theory knowledge.
