We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyler Kristo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kyler, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
When I was in high school, my guidance counselor told me about how he doesn’t understand why my generation doesn’t use technology more efficiently. We have access to all the information in the world for free and we spend our time watching content that wreaks us no benefit. Ever since that conversation, I changed the content I consume. 90% of what I watch on the daily is either financial advice videos, cooking videos, language learning videos, or other educational content. My goal is to learn something new every day.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a content creator at heart. Starting at age 15 I made my YouTube channel, which then turned into a platform across multiple social medias like Instagram, Tiktok, and Twitter. I’m most proud of my viral comedic videos because I’ve always been told how funny I was from a young age. I remember my first best friend’s mother told me I should be on SNL. Seeing millions of others consume my content and get a laugh out of it is the most rewarding. It was definitely not easy to be myself on camera at first. I was judged heavily in my small town, especially with gay allegations when I was living in a very conservation town and the content I was creating fueled those negative opinions further.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I always have the same itinerary for my friends when visiting me here in Los Angeles. If they arrive on a week day. I would start with hitting my favorite small bars/speakeasys, like the Normandie club or Sunset & Vinyl. I know my friends love to eat so I would take them my favorite All You Can Eat restaurants like Sushi Ippo or Here Fishy Fishy. If they like the beach, I’d take them to the tourist beaches first like Venice and Santa Monica, then follow up with showing them Malibu so they know not all the waves have dorito bags in them. Once the weekend is here I would have to take them to my favorite bars/club in West Hollywood and Hollywood like No Vacancy, Rocco’s, and Mickey’s.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout everyone who was from my hometown and encouraged me to do what I love despite what others think. My mother, my sister, my closest friends from my hometown, they all saw how people weren’t necessarily supportive in my small town of a boy like me trying to do content creation on YouTube and other social platforms. I was discouraged by most but those closest to me are the reason I gained the confidence to keep going.
