We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyra Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kyra, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process I had behind starting my own business didn’t come with a strict plan or with any type of organized thought process. It happened so fast and all of a sudden. I woke up one morning fustrated with the fact that it was extremely hard for me to find natural soap products in your local grocery store; countless times of disappointment and frustration when entering the market, I eventually said enough is enough and thought of the idea that I should make my own natural soaps. Telling myself that I could do it and to not be nervous about it. So, I started to do research on my own, purchased a numerous of books, and continued to study the different skin types to see how to go about it. Still nervous, I then told myself that I need to get the necessary supplies to start the process. Natural skin products have always been something that sparked my interested because one, it is natural and good for the skin, and two, it just feels better to know I am not using chemically derived products that can potentially harm the skin. I realized that there are not many natural products to choose from which lead me to the realization that we need more and I want to be that person to change the world and to change people’s mindsets on natural products. I went to school for Health Science so anything regarding to health has always sparked my interest. I feel I am here to make people feel better or to get a sense of relief in some way, shape, or form.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is still a work in progress but I know I am on the right path to success. I am most excited to show the world what I can do in hopes they have faith in me just as much as I do myself. My business is for ALL skin types and people. I am not limiting it to any specific person and I think that is important when targeting audiences as well as changing lives. The initial start up of the business was very very nerve racking for me just because I was never used to sharing my ideas to the world and being confident while doing it. I decided to take on a new leaf and a new stage of life to just do what I please. If it makes me happy that’s all I am worried about. I know my business will change so many lives and I am super excited to see happy customers walk away feeling more confident about themselves. The biggest lesson I learned so far is to not worry about the amount of support I receive through social media. My business page does not have lots of followers, as everyone likes to hype up and be so excited about. If I only reach and have support from 30 people then I am okay with that. I am happy to know that I am supported and can help! Whether that’s only 1 person, I am grateful because I know that they believe in me and want the help from me. Thaskinimin is my brand name for a reason. My mission is to get people to feel more comfortable in their natural skin. This brand can help you feel more lighter, smoother, and natural after each shower. Skin care is so important! With the limited amount of natural soap options I am here to provide you all with the necessities to enhance your health care and lifestyle. I feel my soaps will add a benefit to your overal quality of life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
They would have the time of their life! I’m a hiker so we would do lots of hiking and go on adventures. The places we would hike at would be somewhere in Pacific Palisades, Pales Verdes, and make our way to Vasquez Rocks. Maybe take a drive down to San Diego to enjoy the nice beaches out there. I enjoy cooking, at times, so I would make us a delicious dish that would be unforgettable! I’m thinking something with either Salmon or some sort of fish plate. On Sundays we go and enjoy Leimert Park. It is one of the best places to enjoy the black community and culture. We would dance, listen to music, and enjoy the company of our brothers and sisters. Afterwards we would stop and drink some Boba for a refresher. Another beach we would go to would be Malibu Beach where we would lay down and tan! We may even go to one of my favorite places to eat which would be Oh my Crab. Their crab broiler is delicious! To end their time with me, we would take a day to go to Six Flags Magic Mountain where we would get on all the cool rides and scream our lungs out lol. Overall, it was be an unforgettable experience with my bestfriend.

I want to shoutout my lovely girlfriend Ashley. She supports me in every way and has supported me through my journey with my business. She has always checked in to make sure I am doing what I need to do to be successful along this journey. Without her I would not have the courage or drive to start this business. Thank you Ash!
