Meet Lamel | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lamel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lamel, what role has risk played in your life or career?
i love taking calculated risk, taking risk play a huge role in my creative process from pushing my sound in unknown areas to trying new genre all together. Not only that but its been a fundamental tool in my life to get ahead. I personally believe your current reality will only go as far as your willing to take it. Its essential to remind yourself that growth happens outside the comfort zone because its an unfamiliar experience. in todays world you’ll never get anywhere waiting for life to happen to you and to make things harder time wait on no one. If you strive to be the best version of yourself you’ll run into many risk along your journey. The biggest calculated risk I’ve personally taken is putting my soul into my music and making it a lifestyle and not just a goal.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
my perspective on being an artist and my outlook on the creative process is what separates me from a lot of people today. For me, being an artist has always been bigger then what you can get out of it and the status you get from it. Setting and accomplishing goals is just a piece of what it can do for you when you start to view things in the lens of a lifestyle and not just something you seek out to accomplish and concur. Acknowledging that your accomplishments once viewed as an aid to your lifestyle as an Artist can help to build who you actually are as a real person and not a persona you’ve created. This alone allows others to connect with you on a artistic and personal level way easier. Not only that but its made dealing with things such as inner doubts and failures a lot smoother for me because I’ve dealt with a lot of those in my life in perusing my creative endeavor. With that being said i take great pride in my work ethic and my ability to stay committed to who i am. My journey has been far from easy and im no better then anyone else, i just knew what i wanted for myself and i staying committed to it. Thats what has gotten me through every major challenge in my career and probably the biggest lesson I’ve learned not just as an artist but as a person.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Im a cali boy all the way through so if you’ve never been here before without a doubt we gotta start with some classics. For breakfast wed go all around LA county hitting Inglewood to roscoes to grab the Obama special all the way down to valley to VIP CAFE to try there amazing french toast. when it comes to lunch/brunch through out the weeks we’d go between Hollywood and Santa Monica, Hitting roof top bars in Hollywood like Harriets to give them a real cali experience. we cant forgot the beach this is cali! so with that being said the bungalow is a fun place to host a brunch if your new here and its one crosswalk away from the beach so catching the sunset is a breeze. For fun id have to take them to the heart of Hollywood so they can take photos with there favorite stars. id also take them to the many museum we have here like the car museum in Hollywood and wed hit places like city walk and Disneyland to make it more memorable. last but not least i cant forget the beach. my favorite place to go when it comes to water is laguna beach wed spend a day by the water and end it with going to the view point top of the world to look at the city all lit up at night and if we have time of course wed go to the studio and make some music.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
id like to give a few shout outs, one to my previous engineer “Mike Troolines” who helped me find my sound and showed me the fundamentals of professionalism in the music industry. working with him showed me this doesn’t just have to be a dream. Another major figure in my story is my current engineer & mentor “B wood” not only has he help push my sound to the next level he’s also alway challenging me to create the best version of whatever im making and leading by example. As a mentor and with over 15 years in the industry and his own accolades under his belt he’s a fountain of information and throughout my career I’ve been able to go to him for any and everything you can imagine.
