We had the good fortune of connecting with Lara Kempbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lara, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

Since my early days, I have been a passionate observer and practitioner of different kinds of arts. I feel appreciative, since I managed to practice lots of arts as a child, such as ballet and jazz dance, playing the piano and the guitar, and acting in theater plays at school. The truth was, I didn’t want to become solely an actress, or an artist, my inner being drove me to learn more of how to run a show, which happened to be from the inside of the tech industry. It took me 15+ years to get aligned with soul purpose on Earth and wait till technology finally caught up with what I was trying to create. After achieving certain height in tech, I reconnected with my creative spirit by doing consulting work and sharing ideas with other artists with my consulting agency ArtistAngel.

Through this work I came to believe that arts practice, in any capacity or duration, contributes to our self-realization. Practicing arts can literally help heal our soul wounds and keep us mentally healthy. I am also a firm believer in combining art+tech to become more innovative in this technology-driven world, look for better solutions and assist us in being our best selves. In our art+tech for-revenue projects, I like to highlight the usefulness of arts in the first place, be it in filmmaking or in how we use advances in tech to help us in the process of making and releasing new art pieces. It is truly the new age for arts that offers numerous initiatives, for instance, making traditional arts more innovative or developing something brand-new but based on older models. I call the newest developments in art+tech Gen Arts AI and within this new concept, my team and I offer a wide panoply of lucrative collaborations to assist humans to better appreciate arts both for their usefulness in every day life and as a way to help modify our reality.

Think about it: our lives have become so super technology-driven. Now we are being offered to write for us, to be co-creative with ChatGPT or Web 3.0. What comes next? I meet so many artists who struggle to stay in tune with too many of these new trends. What is there in store for them? To answer this, we started the ArtTech Council where every artrepreneur or creatives in tech can join it and share their plots and ideas. As for high-spirited artists and creatives, they are welcome to join this project or the ArtTech Circle.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I want to convey the importance to speak about the struggles first. I feel that many beginning entrepreneurs often tend to underestimate the investment needed on their side to be able to succeed or achieve proper quality for their businesses, both in terms of time and money, customer happiness and their contributions to the society around us. For most of my art+tech endeavors, finding investment has been the greatest challenge and a source of immense pain. It is surely hard to convince people to invest in arts, if they have never practiced nor understand the significance, say, of playing a music instrument or dancing, what meaning it gives to your life and to lives of people around you.

Mindset can be an insurmountable hurdle for many of us, too. In a recently established brand of the Art Retreat we did overcome the obstacles that lied within our belief system by conducting several Artsy Picnic events. We invited folks to practice arts and wellness with us in some pristine corners of Los Angeles and in Tulum, Mexico. These meetups turned out to be so unbelievably magical, and all our guests were happy and pleased. This assured my business partner Yana Komina who is a yoga instructor in Tulum and me of the usefulness of this project and its need for the human soul and the society. Art Retreat is born out of our deep spirit of love for arts and wellness practices and we see it manifesting our dreams really fast. Currently we are growing the network of Art Retreat Hosts who sound in unison with our mission and goals and we are getting ready to launch immersive week-long retreat experiences in Tulum and in Bali, to begin with. We are also creating an accompanying arttech mobile app and scripting a new reality TV show based on the Art Retreat concept. For the latter one, we’re actively looking for people to join our production crew in Hollywood.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I am so blessed to have lived in Los Angeles for a while now, this city has so much to offer. It never tires to surprise me with something new. I enjoy going for a jog in the morning as well as doing sunset yoga on Santa Monica Beach. Roller skating along the Venice strip is among my top passions, too. If you’re new to LA or just want to re-explore the surroundings, I would suggest taking a ride through Hollywood Hills, all the way down the Mulholland Drive, or go surfing in Topanga beach near Malibu. If you’re more into arts, then going to an art exhibit or artsy stores along Melrose Ave would be a true bliss. I also enjoy the vegan culinary delights and new vegan and zero-plastic shops LA has to offer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

A proud resident of the City of Angels, I am super grateful to have met innovative and generous people while being an actress on sets. Among them are movie producers and fellow actors such Dorrill Griffin, Brenda Pond, Jasmyn Carter, Max Forzan, and many others. I feel prosperous working with those who see you for the special gifts you bring to the filmset or stage. I believe that, as creative beings, we should both spark divine inspiration and be somewhat of guardian angels to each other and to our audience. I’d like to provide exactly this in all of my current and future projects. In fact, I’ve learned that you cannot star in whatever you do unless you let others shine first and praise their creative input and support they establish. I truly like participating in projects that are born out of the deepest soul desires of their creators, not just alone out of the wish to have commercial success, or the objective to become rich or famous.
