We had the good fortune of connecting with Laryah-Monyeiã Cosentino and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laryah-Monyeiã, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I define my success within reaching my full potential in goals I’ve set and mastering my skills. Potential being, gaining a big enough audience to create a platform and use that to speak my truth in confidence I’m reminding my supporters their power lies within them; this world is beautiful and it’s yours as long as you step into that power. An imperative part of having a platform is taking that opportunity to spread awareness and assist communities that may not have the support needed and I plan to do so in every way feasible. Aside from that, I simply want to travel the world doing what I love and work with fellow artists I admire, it brings me the upmost fulfillment.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is timeless, I feel I stand apart from others because I have something refreshing to bring to the table that isn’t prevalent in today’s mainstream media. My music has a definitive RnB sound with my soulful voice, however I range from house to heavy influences of hip hop and sometimes pop. My lyrics are my story, I get through it by expressing that and it finds a way to transform into something beautiful, of light. That is because its with intention and that’ll always find a way to connect with the listeners its meant to find. I get very excited thinking about it because I’m finding new ways to do so with production, writing styles, and creative direction in my visual content. This wasn’t easy and frankly me a decade ago would shed a happy tear or two seeing how far I’ve come. I was quite timid and was told every reason I wasn’t capable to do it on my own. Til one day I decided I can’t let others projections of insecurities define me. I had to find me and in doing so I was intuitively putting in the footwork of becoming the star my inner child knew I was destined be. That’s the most rewarding feeling and I hope the world can see that and let it reflect in their own reality.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a city girl at heart, so a brunch is a definite at a cute rooftop downtown. I also love going to museums, one of my favorites being The Broad and The Immersive Monet Experience, so I always try to take friends that visit from out of town. If it’s a weekend, we’re surely making an appearance at a day party in whichever secret location they have them that weekend. I’m very involved with other artists too, so im usually supporting the homies in any events they throw as well! If my social battery is feeling low though, I like to getaway in the canyons around Malibu or Topanga. Sometimes visit Cosentino’s nursery, simply off the fact it’s so charming and we coincidentally share the last name “Cosentino”.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to Moms and Pops! They introduced me to such cultured music and film at such a young age and allowed me the space with love and support to take on this journey as an artist. My moms has always been my #1 supporter and I never take it for granted, same for my dad. He never candy coated things in what to expect in the industry or what habits I need to integrate now in order to get what I’m looking for. I can be stubborn to digest it but I appreciate that mentorship cause it gave me a realistic approach and strategy, as well as thicker skin. With that, I’m now able to see why this path is meant for me, why I stand out from an average singer just tryna make it.
