We had the good fortune of connecting with Lashon Byrd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lashon, what inspires you?
Over the years I’ve been inspired by many people, first by Robert Kiyosaki after reading his “Rich Dad” book trilogy, then as I’ve gotten older philosophers like Friedrich Nietzche and Marcus Aurelius. Aurelius especially as I’m an enthusiastic practitioner of stoicism. But the question was WHAT am I inspired by wasn’t it? I have this innate, extreme drive to advance human technology, knowledge, and culture. Culture in areas where my passion and artistic spirit run rampant like acting and writing. Before I leave our planet, I want to have left an indelible, huge impact on it with extremely far wide implications. I’ve never been the type to just want to live a normal life and die. That may sound harsh, but I’ve always been the BIG dreamer, that says they’re going to do big things, but I actually do it, which is why I’m here right now. The world needs more doers.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work spans various fields – every single one I’m passionate about like no other. I remember writing my first book at just 11, and how big it was when my family saw it got published when I was approaching my 13th birthday. What sets me apart from others is how the media has given me the title “Polymath” due to my contributions in a wide range of disciplines if I do say so myself. And I’m always challenging the status quo, everything I do is exactly that – a challenge of the conventional in ways that are fresh and applicable in ways that breaks the rules and bends them to my advantage. I’m most proud of – and excited of firstly my sitcom, I was bouncing off the walls when it got licensed to a major streaming service, and even more elated when it finally, officially, released on Cineverse- the streaming service I was referring to. After that has to be what I have coming up- I can’t disclose that to the media just yet before it’s published, but vaguely- they’re scientific advancements and new technology! There was nothing easy about anything I’ve done with my life haha, excruciatingly difficult and discouraging is how I’d describe what the typical person would describe what I’ve contributed. And it definitely is! But my sheer passion, relentless perseverance until success is attained, and drive is how I’ve overcome them. In that state, failure isn’t cause to give up or become discouraged, but learn from it, to try again and some more until you get it right. But insanity is indeed doing the exact same thing over and expecting to get different results. Adaptability is key.

Along the way, I’ve undoubtedly learned that the cliché is true. Don’t give up, and if you adapt, you will achieve success in the results you’re trying to get. I learned that first hand, you may not get it right the first, second, or third time. But if you take those lessons, and apply them, you will eventually succeed. That applies to any kind of creator, whether you’re making music, films, technology, doing scientific research, the list goes on. I’ve also learned that feedback isn’t to hurt you, or detest your work, it’s to help you improve and get better, so apply it constructively.

About me? I want the world to know that no challenge is too big for me, and I truly am no quitter, that’s not an option. Don’t take my word for it, I’ve proved it, and will prove it much much more.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d say the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame over here in Cleveland, along with the Natural History Museum, and Great Lakes Science Center. All types of interesting characters and memories to be made over there haha.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I know I’ve said it numerous times in many interviews, but I genuinely idolize Robert Kiyosaki, so I want to shoutout him, and his book that changed my life, to begin with “Rich Dad Poor Dad.” Additionally, I want to shout out Tyrez Brown, I just call him Ty, he’s a person in my life who’s been monumental to my success and all success that will follow me. Ever since I met him, he’s been such a positive, motivating force in my life, and I undoubtedly feel like without him, I wouldn’t be who I am right now. He’s an amazing person, no exaggeration, and he deserves the world.
