Meet Laura Lee | Founder and CEO

We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laura, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Founding LL Consulting was a decision rooted in a deep need to shape my career, impact, and life on my own terms. As a woman in tech, I’d spent years navigating a corporate world that often felt like it wasn’t built for me, where work-life balance was a constant tug-of-war and my voice as a minority sometimes struggled to be heard. I wanted to own my destiny, to shape a path that reflected my vision rather than fit into someone else’s framework. The idea of forging my own way, especially in performance marketing where AI and machine learning are transformative, was exhilarating. I saw an opportunity not just to adapt to that change but to lead it—to build something that could drive innovation while staying true to my values. It wasn’t just about independence; it was about proving that women in tech can redefine leadership, set our own rules, and pave the way for others in spaces where we’re still underrepresented.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My journey kicked off over 15 years ago, sparked by a deep-seated drive to link brands with their audiences in authentic, impactful ways. As a Growth Marketing leader, I’ve been fortunate to dive into vibrant sectors—consumer tech, entertainment, and gaming—collaborating with powerhouses like Live Nation, Warner Bros, Universal Music, Hasbro, and more.
I cut my teeth in the agency realm, thriving in the high-energy world of digital media planning and buying. Hungry to influence outcomes more directly, I shifted to brand-side roles, where I could craft strategies from the ground up. A defining chapter came at HBO Max US, where I spearheaded Acquisition & Growth Marketing—steering the product from its debut to ongoing evolution through bold ideas, innovative tools, and strategies that broke new ground. Every role I’ve taken has been fueled by a commitment to growth and creativity, whether by weaving stories that stick, harnessing cutting-edge tech, or designing experiences that truly connect.
Now, as the Founder and CEO of LL Consulting, I’m channeling that experience into something entirely my own. I work with B2C and DTC brands and tech innovators, rethinking their performance marketing to spark growth. Starting a business once felt out of reach—daunting as a Korean-American woman in an industry where I often stood out, wrestling with imposter syndrome, and shaped by a cultural upbringing that urged me to blend in rather than stand out. But leaning into my network revealed the depth of my community’s strength. Those relationships opened doors to collaborate with brands like Virgin Galactic and The CW, proving the value of the bonds I’d built. That realization lit a fire in me—not just to accept the opportunities I’d earned, but to take pride in them and keep pushing forward.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a native Angeleno – I understand the plethora of what Los Angeles can provide in an abundance of things to do and see. From the beautiful beaches — with some of my favorites ranging from Malibu, Manhattan Beach to Rancho Palos Verdes to the culturally stimulating and picturesque museums of LACMA, The Broad and The Getty. Being immersed in the city of dreams, where you can rub elbows with celebrities and visit your favorite tv show or movie sets, a studio tour and a visit to theme parks are a must add. However, the food scene of LA is the true highlight of the culture of this city. There is something for everyone, from a truly authentic sushi dining experience at Hide Sushi, to finding comfort in familiarity in Koreatown and immersing myself in the taco culture especially at Sonoratown. I then like to balance out all of the indulgence with a class or two at Barry’s Venice.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wish I’d discovered the power of community earlier in my career—it’s a lesson I learned later than I’d hoped. But once I found it, there was no turning back. Joining the Board of Asians in Advertising became a turning point, infusing my journey with purpose. This nonprofit, dedicated to fostering community, mentorship, and shared experiences, uplifts AANHPI individuals across advertising, marketing, and creative industries. Its founder, Bernice Chao, embodies its mission, tirelessly ensuring every member feels seen, heard, and supported. She creates opportunities for us to rise and amplifies underrepresented voices—a gift I’ll always cherish.
Working alongside brilliant, mission-driven board members like Lisa Bull, Suzie Bao, Senna Bayasgalan, and Christina Lu is a true privilege. Their wholehearted commitment to lifting each other up inspires me daily. Through this, I’ve come to see the unique strength in being a minority woman in tech. Connecting with other women executives, like Michele Ching through Chief, has further fueled my path. Together, we’re building representation, paving the way for others, and amplifying our collective voice—an impact that continues to shape who I am and what I strive for.
