Meet Laura Lee Walsh | Actor. Comedian. Voice Over Artist.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Lee Walsh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laura Lee, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I come from a family of creatives; my mom is a music teacher and my dad is a visual artist. So being a lawyer or a doctor was never expected of me – thank God haha!
As a kid, I was always intently listening and observing others, taking note of their emotions and what causes them, while being the supportive friend. On stage, I felt at home. This was the place where people would listen to me, where I found my own voice. I was able to apply all of my observations to the stage and that felt so right for me!
Thankfully, my parents always supported my love of theater and music! Growing up in Los Angeles, I had access to amazing arts programs that allowed me to focus on my creative pursuits. I was active in award-winning, competitive choirs for 15 years, played hand bells for 5 years, learned to play bass, piano, and guitar, and loved music theory. I’m a compulsive harmonizer. After studying music for so long and doing theater alongside it, I realized I wanted to really focus on studying acting when in college. I was always given the opportunity to play crazy characters in school shows and drama classes, and I found a ton of joy in that! I’m really grateful I pursued that more deeply as I got older. Don’t get me wrong, I still use music all the time, but mostly to enhance my comedy and characters.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an actor, comedian, and voice over artist who is serious about comedy! Laughing and making others laugh is my happy place. I’m obsessed with improv and creating characters who have their own lives/points of view. While I mostly do improv and sketch, I started doing standup last year which I also enjoy! I have what I like to call “resting camp counselor face,” so a lot of my comedy stems from that. My comedy is clean and all ages can enjoy it!
As an actor, I’ve made my living from commercials and voice over work. If you don’t blink, you can see me in a ton of commercials! I’ve done spots for Factor, Hulu, Colgate, HealthNet, Realtor.com, BetterHelp, Charter Cable, KOS Protein, and many more. I’m grateful to have been in a Super Bowl commercial, national commercials, and international spots! As far as voice over work, I’ve done commercials, vocal dubbing, audio dramas, comedy fiction podcasts, corporate internal recordings, and children’s storytelling podcasts.
Things that I’m most proud of in my career are probably the work I wrote and created myself. This would include my one-woman show “Laura’s Got Talent”, a multi-media sketch comedy special that is now streaming on Amazon Prime and Fawesome.TV, as well as my award-winning half-hour comedy pilot, “Fastest Food.” I’m also really proud of my auditions for SNL and Just For Laughs – they really pushed me to dig deep into my personal comedic point of view and just PLAY! All of the above has been a labor of love that has brought me so much joy and I’m humbled to have had the opportunity to audition for major shows and create/perform my own works. What a freaking honor and blessing!
Currently, I’m in a Groundlings-based improv group that I love, I’m creating a sketch show, and I’m getting ready to launch a fun series on social media. I also work as a murder mystery show performer where I play characters for hours at a time, creating an immersive experience. And as always, I’m auditioning and working whenever I can! Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to sign with an entirely new representation team. They are the BEST! My manager totally gets me and champions my goals/aspirations while working around the clock and my other agents work their butts off submitting me all the time. I’m extremely grateful to have such a killer team in my corner who is monumental in helping my career happen and grow!
What I do is not easy at all. I have had many days where I wonder if I can even keep going. But I firmly believe God placed me on this planet to create clean comedy for the masses to enjoy, so that’s what I’m doing! And I’m eternally grateful I get to do so.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh man, this is a GREAT question because I’m from LA, born and raised in Studio City. I would definitely take them to some iconic venues to see shows at places like The Groundlings, The Comedy Store, and maybe even The Roxy! There’s a spot in Malibu called the Pier Farm Cafe that has incredible food and drinks with breathtaking views of the ocean – it’s gorgeous! Some of my favorite restaurants in Studio City are Black Market Liquor Bar, Aroma, and Mexicali, so we’d have to go to those spots! The last time one of my best friends came to visit, we went to In-N-Out, Enchanted Escape Rooms, Emo Nite, and Universal Studios. I used to be a Hollywood tour guide and I would often tell visitors to pop by The Grove and Farmer’s Market, as well as driving through Beverly Hills. There’s so many options – LA is amazing!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents are the most supportive people you will ever meet; I’m so grateful for my family! Also, my husband Terris is the best life partner, friend, and joke riffer! My life is full of joy and laughter because of him!
The job of being an actor, comedian, and voice over artist takes a massive and supportive village. I’m eternally grateful to all my friends and family who help me tape auditions, my amazing representation team for getting me out there, and my comedy community for being such a bright light in my life!
