Meet Laureen Trujillo | Author/Speaker & Founder of Strength & Glory

We had the good fortune of connecting with Laureen Trujillo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laureen, why did you pursue a creative career?
Since I was a child I have always been drawn to the arts and all things creative. I found these outlets to be a way to not only express myself but also connect with other people. There is something really beautiful about being able to inspire, impact, and reach others and on a very real and human level, draw out emotion. Everything I’ve ever pursued has always consisted of a creative or an artistic element and allows me the opportunity to take others on a journey, tell stories, and also learn more about myself in this process.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been fortunate enough to try many different things— keeping busy has never been an issue. Some people don’t take the risk or step outside the box long enough to see all that they’re capable of. I haven’t even fully done so. But, I’m getting there. From an artistic and creative side, I’ve done everything from acting to modeling to writing. I branched out and have been self-employed as a personal trainer and fitness instructor. Where my resume may seem like a hodgepodge of skill sets and talents, they all somehow work together. However, because I tend to be drawn to the adventure of doing work that I love, I have found that the journey itself can be rewarding, and sometimes, frustrating and heartbreaking. I think any person with an entrepreneurial spirit will understand that. It’s been a challenge to take all of the things that I’ve been passionate about and have excelled in, and find a way to bring it all together in something that is more cohesive and really unique to me. And so, one of the things I am most proud of, is really beginning to learn the things that set my soul on fire and figuring out a way to meld it all together in a way that inspires, encourages, impacts, and actually helps others. This is what keeps me busy and working, building. I’ve had to learn, that I am not merely a job title and that it is OK to step out and try new things, start over and rebuild, and hit people with a plot twist every now and then. The new venture I’m in the process of pursuing and the brand I’m creating is one that really aims to truly help build others and that is what I want to be known for and finally blends all aspects of my background and even creative pursuits into a little masterpiece that I can share soon.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I’m going to be completely honest, I don’t have any. I’m actually in the process of rediscovering the hidden gems and things I love in the city myself. So, for now, it would be an opportunity for an adventure and finding things as we go!
Although, I will say Aroma Coffee & Tea in Studio City will forever be my favorite and first place to take a friend to eat.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Do you know the phrase, “it takes a village”? That is definitely true in my case. However, I really want to take time to acknowledge my younger sister, Ammie. Since she was born, we have been two little peas in a pod and each others biggest cheerleaders. She has always advocated for me and all of my endeavors and even in the moments when I feel like quitting on my own dreams, she is usually the first to jump in and champion me.
