Meet Laurel Roberts-Meese | Founder and Clinical Director of Laurel Therapy Collective

We had the good fortune of connecting with Laurel Roberts-Meese and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Laurel, how does your business help the community?
Mental health has an impact across social, race, and state lines. By making affirmative therapy accessible from the comfort of home, we help people live their best lives. Whether people are dealing with anxiety, burnout, trauma, or relationship problems, there are real solutions available. We also know that if people could figure it out themselves, they would. Most people are intelligent and want to feel better. We’re happy to offer our expertise in making that happen. We’ve seen incredible things: horrific trauma healed, relationships saved, confidence gained. The impact is invigorating.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We’re a small therapy practice specializing in working with stressed out professionals from diverse backgrounds. We often treat anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues. We love working with LGBT couples, adults, and teens. We started with just myself, and added therapists as demand grew. While many practices have physical locations, we decided to stay virtual even as people were returning in person. The majority of our clients are too busy to drive to an office and sit in a waiting room. And the great news is that research has proven virtual therapy is just as effective as in person!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m always looking for places that make you feel transported. I’d do a morning hike on the Solstice Canyon Loop in Malibu. I’ve always thought the ruins there would be a great place for a photoshoot. Then we’d have brunch at Hugo’s or La Boheme in West Hollywood. Then we’d take in a show at the Ahmanson.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Mentorship, and specifically skilled supervision, is critical to the development of a good therapist. I was fortunate to have some incredible supervisors as I was completing my associateship. Bill Jones, MFT, went above and beyond in helping me become the clinician I am today. Having someone who truly believes in your ability, talent, and helps you grow your full potential makes all the difference.
