We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Elizabeth and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is the personal connection I form with my customers. As an animal lover and over-the-top pet parent, I can relate to the immense love and bond they share with their pets. What better way to memorialize that love than with a custom painted portrait of their best friend? I thrive on communicating and collaborating with my customers so that I really get a feel for their pet’s personality. I put a lot of focus on the pet’s eyes while I’m painting to really capture their spirit. I want their heart and soul to shine through when I’m done. There is nothing more fulfilling than being able to do what I love every single day, and it’s an honor to bring joy and healing to others through my art and love for animals. I’m grateful because my customers recognize that these portraits are more than just paintings; they also provide a place of love, joy, and beautiful memories that will last a lifetime on canvas.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I specialize in pet portraits. My clients email me their favorite photos of their pets, give me any special background requests, and I focus on really capturing their pets’ spirit in the painting. What sets me apart from other is that I take the time to learn about my customers and the pet that I’m painting. Whether it is their childhood dog, new best friend, or a special gift to a fellow animal lover, it is a priceless keepsake full of love. Bringing happiness to others through my art is the ultimate gift that I am so grateful for. I have been painting for as long as I can remember. Since I was old enough to hold a paintbrush, I’ve dreamed of being an artist. It was not easy getting here. I’m originally from Tennessee… a self-taught artist who was never professionally trained. I worked hospitality, sales, marketing, animal hospitals, you name it…and painted and worked on painted pets in my spare time. I created my own website, I learned how to digitally market my art, and I WENT FOR IT. I went all in. And I didn’t stop. There were many times I wanted to give up. But I pushed myself because I knew this is my destiny. Putting yourself out there with something that comes from your heart will challenge you in every way. But if you are able to focus on what what’s important and give it your all, you can do ANYTHING. I still have to pinch myself because I’m so happy to be able to mix my love of animals and art…I can’t think of anything else I’d rather be doing.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a guaranteed amazing day in beautiful Los Angeles, you must explore Malibu. Hiking and whale watching at Point Dume, eating the best Fisherman’s platter you’ve ever tasted at Neptune’s Nets, and finish your day with a perfect sunset with your toes in the sand and listening to the crashing waves.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Everyone who encouraged me to go after my dreams.
