We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Feldman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Throughout my career I have never considered myself to be part of the “corporate world,” but I have always worked for many different people and many different companies. The main thought for transitioning towards starting my own businesses is that I now want to be in control of my life, my schedule, my income, and my destiny. I’ve realized that I do have other passions that I want to pursue, and the longer that I continued working for others the more all consuming it became and the less time, focus and energy I really had to pursue other endeavors.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am currently a realtor for the most amazing boutique firm in Los Angeles, PLG Estates. Founded by Peter Lorimer who comes from a background in the music industry and has been absolutely killing it in real estate for the past 20 years. His company includes a wide range of agents with creative backgrounds like musicians, producers, marketing/advertising execs, actors, writers, etc, so I naturally gravitated towards this type of brokerage. Peter is a wonderful leader and guide and the most encouraging person for someone like myself who’s starting out as an entrepreneur. I do feel like this was a natural segue for me coming from a television producing background. I spent years working with people, conducting cast interviews, writing, editing, coming up with creative ideas and ways of executing them, as well as being a master problem solver! I would not have ventured into producing if I didn’t naturally love working with people and believe that I had a creative edge. We have to become allies, friends, psychologists, leaders, executors, storytellers, and most of all we have to be kind and likable in order for people to continue wanting to work with us in the tv industry. You also become a little family of misfits with ridiculous schedules!

At the end of the day life really is all about relationships, and that’s exactly what real estate is. TV is not always a glamorous industry to work in, but it absolutely is so much fun. I spent years freelancing, (which also means not always knowing when you have a job next) traveling to great places like Hawaii, New York, Las Vegas, Miami, Colorado, working long hours, but I met some fantastic people along the way and formed some amazing friendships even outside of working together.

I came to realize over the last couple of years that there are other things I really wanted to pursue as well. Oftentimes there was no extra time allotted for those other things if a tv job was consuming all of it. I have begun to learn about balance, and making time for my self growth, health, and other passions is of the utmost importance nowadays. I guess I really want the world to know that I’m not just one thing. My background will always be a part of who I am. However, I refuse to a label, or be put in a box. We are all multifaceted human beings with many layers. I am embracing my intuitive gifts as much as my passion for real estate, and my ability to edit/produce and tell the stories that show up on our televisions.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I am a beach girl at heart so depending on the time of year we would definitely be venturing there. I love Malibu, Carbon beach or Surfrider are my favorite because it’s relaxed vibe and dogs can run around. I’d head there, and check out Malibu Country Mart for lunch and maybe a 30 psychic reading at the Malibu Shaman. Or a hike up Temescal Canyon in SM. Abbot Kinney in Venice is a great spot to pop in and out of stores. They also have great restaurants, coffee shops, bars. Butchers Daughter, Urthe Cafe, Rooster Fish or the Whaler.

Manhattan Beach is also a great spot for, El Porto for surfing, tons of beach shops and restaurants as well.

If we’re on my side of town, W 3rd street Restaurant Row, endless choices. Toast Cafe, Son of a Gun, and Mercado has the best happy hour, the Grove, Farmer’s Market. Or I’m always up for a good hike up Runyon Canyon.

Nightlife we’d have to see if there’s a great comedy line up at The Improv or The Comedy Store. Any concerts to check out at the Hollywood Bowl or The Greek or the El Rey for a more intimate vibe. If they’re in a dancing mood there’s always the Abbey! I haven’t done the club scene in quite some time so I am not the concierge for that.

The new Academy Museum is close by so definitely would check that out again. I have been once already, but you could honestly spend days in there and still not absorb it all.

I also love sound baths, so if there is a great beach yoga or soundbath or breath work session with The Den happening we would definitely be at that.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I do have to say the most important person over the past year and a half that has helped facilitate massive internal growth has been Danielle Paige. She’s an astrologer and consciousness guide and honestly so much more! She’s been my astrology teacher, but even before I started taking her courses I was participating in her healing circles every month. I have learned so much about myself through these circles and through learning astrology. She is someone who empowers people to be their true authentic self, to deeply go within, and deprogram all of the outside noise we’ve been conditioned to listen to since birth. We are also not separate from nature. Everything is energy in motion and learning about the planetary cycles, and specifically my own birth chart has been life changing. It has allowed me to unapologetically embrace this new chapter in my life. Diving into real estate as well as embracing my intuitive gifts by reading charts and tarot for others. Years ago I would never have even spoken publicly about this aspect of myself. We do not have to be just one thing in this life. We can weave all of our gifts into the things we’re passionate about, which bring us the most joy while also also being of service to others.

Other: I am working on building personal websites for real estate and for astrology/tarot. I am in the early stages for both of them, but they are currently in process. People can DM me on instagram in the meantime for birth chart/tarot readings as well as email for real estate needs!
