Meet Lauren Pohle | Nurse Practitioner & Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Pohle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, how do you think about risk?
“Without risk, there is no reward!” When I announced to my family that I was resigning from my stable full-time nursing job at the hospital, complete with benefits and a pension, to pursue the journey of starting my own business and opening a medical spa, their reactions were less than enthusiastic. However, I consider myself a prudent risk-taker. I strategically continued working as needed at the hospital while gradually building my clientele in the startup phase of my new career, ensuring a steady stream of income if necessary. In this life, opportunities for growth, success, and fulfillment often lie beyond the familiar confines of our comfort zones. It’s in those moments of uncertainty and daring that the true potential for greatness emerges. Whether it’s pursuing a new career path or investing in a passion project, stepping into the unknown requires courage and a willingness to embrace the possibility of failure. Yet, it’s precisely through these leaps of faith that we discover our resilience, creativity, and capacity for growth. While risks may bring challenges and setbacks, they also offer the promise of invaluable experiences, lessons learned, and the potential for transformative success that far outweighs the initial uncertainty. In essence, to truly thrive in life, one must be willing to take calculated risks, for it is in those bold moments that the greatest rewards await. Looking back, embracing this risk has proven to be the most rewarding decision I’ve ever made for myself, my future, and my professional journey!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What truly distinguishes both myself and Modern Med from others in the industry is our continued commitment to authenticity and our relentless pursuit of innovation to provide the best possible care for our patients. I have a great passion for learning and implementing the latest advancements and best practices in the field of medical aesthetics. I believe that honesty and transparency with our customers at Modern Med, are not just virtues but essential cornerstones of building lasting relationships based on trust, which has been instrumental in our success story.
For me, there’s no greater thrill than witnessing our patients remarkable aesthetic transformations, evident in the stunning before-and-after results that unfold over the course of their treatment journey. These outcomes are a testament to the dedication and expertise my team pours into every aspect of our practice.
Equally gratifying is the opportunity to nurture and witness the growth of my team members within this dynamic industry. Seeing our employees flourish and thrive in their roles, empowered by the knowledge and skills they acquire along the way, brings a sense of fulfillment to me. At Modern Med, we are not just shaping the future of medical aesthetics; we are fostering a culture of continuous learning, personal development, and genuine care that sets us apart from others.
One crucial lesson I’ve learned in business is the importance of accountability. As a business owner, it’s essential to show up consistently and work diligently. Considering that most businesses fail within the first five years, I’m proud to say that Modern Med has successfully surpassed this milestone.
Through the success of Modern Med, my entrepreneurial spirit inspired me to venture into the dynamic realm of fashion. My second business, LuMED, addresses a critical issue I encountered after years of wearing inadequate medical scrubs. Recognizing the need for healthcare professionals to have attire that is both comfortable and functional, I founded LuMED to provide innovative solutions. Our scrubs are designed to meet essential functional requirements while enhancing confidence and overall well-being. I’m proud to say that LuMED has had a successful first year, and I’m excited to see where the next five years will take us!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe a profound debt of gratitude to my parents. From an early age, they instilled in me the values of independence and diligence, shaping the core of my entrepreneurial spirits. Their tireless efforts to cultivate a strong work ethic within me have been instrumental in shaping my approach to life and fueling my career ambition. Although initially cautious about my decision to venture into entrepreneurship, they have consistently stood by me, offering unwavering support in every step of my journey.
