We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Ruvo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Sure, here’s an edited version of your text:
—
I can’t pinpoint a single decision that has led to my success. Instead, there are several key principles that I believe have greatly contributed to my achievements: not worrying about others’ opinions, maintaining an open mind, and being willing to adapt.
My coaching and consulting business is constantly evolving, which is one of the most rewarding aspects of being self-employed. If I had been overly concerned with what others thought, I wouldn’t have been able to follow my instincts and make decisions that felt right in the moment.
Recently, I expanded my business by launching a new service focused on contracting review and creation. This venture has been both fulfilling and enjoyable. If you had asked me a few years ago if I would offer such services, I would have said no. However, staying open-minded and willing to pivot has allowed me to expand my business, push my own boundaries, and, most importantly, provide clients with a wide range of services tailored to their needs.
What should our readers know about your business?
Thank you for your interest in my business. I founded my coaching and consulting business with a clear vision: to provide personalized and impactful solutions tailored to each client’s unique needs. What sets me apart is my commitment to three core principles: independence of thought, continuous adaptation, and fearless innovation.
I’m most proud of my ability to evolve constantly. From starting out with traditional career coaching services to expanding into niche areas like contract and policy review and creation as well as business management services, every step has been guided by a willingness to listen, learn, and pivot. This adaptability not only challenges me personally but also ensures that my clients receive the most relevant and effective support.
The journey hasn’t been easy. Like any entrepreneur, I’ve faced numerous challenges along the way—uncertainty, financial hurdles, and the pressure to conform to industry norms. However, each obstacle has been a valuable lesson in resilience and strategic thinking. By embracing these challenges head-on and leveraging them as opportunities for growth, I’ve been able to strengthen my business and refine our service offerings.
Ultimately, the key lesson I’ve learned is the importance of authenticity and staying true to my vision. Success isn’t just about profitability; it’s about creating meaningful connections and making a positive impact. I want the world to know that my brand is built on integrity, creativity, and a genuine desire to empower others.
In essence, my journey is a testament to the power of passion and perseverance in business. I look forward to continuing to innovate, expand, and serve our clients with dedication and enthusiasm.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Here are some of my favorite local Santa Monica spots where I take friends when they come and visit. We’d start off with a relaxing lunch at Back on the Beach Cafe, enjoying a delicious meal right on the beach and you truly can’t beat their ocean views! After spending some time at the beach we’d head to Wally’s for a glass of wine and charcuterie before heading to Hillstone for dinner. Other highlights during their visit would include a scenic drive to Malibu, taking the boat out around Marina del Rey, exploring some art museums around LA, hiking Mandeville Canyon, and lots of beach time. We’d get coffee at Primo Passo (my fav!) and brunch at Bardonna. We’d explore Santa Monica’s Farmers Market and end the trip with dinner at Fia.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family constantly supports me and encourages me to work hard and grow my business in ways that makes sense. I also have an incredible business coach, Sami Toussi, who is a huge source of support and a great thought partner. She has helped me grow my business and has provided invaluable insight and expertise.
