We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauritta Muratbaeva and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauritta, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My clients call me a “comfort photographer,” and I’d like to believe that this means I am fulfilling my mission. When I was first starting out in the photography field, my head was filled with questions like, “How can I help the community and people?” and “What can I do differently in my practice that would set me apart from others?” After many free trial photo sessions with my friends and strangers, I discovered one recurring piece of painful feedback: clients often fear booking a professional photoshoot because many photographers are uncomfortable to be around and don’t provide any feedback or posing tips during the session.
As a person with previous modeling experience, I can deeply relate to this concern. This realization made it clear to me that one way I can help my community is by becoming a ‘comfort photographer’ who not only provides clients with stunning images—whether it’s their family portraits or photographs for their personal brands—but also acts as a gentle and supportive friend during the vulnerable time of a photoshoot. I’ve invested many hours into practicing my communication skills and learning to work with different personalities who step in front of my lens.
The best feedback I receive from my clients is that they felt completely at ease and were able to relax and open up during the shoot because I was there with them every step of the way. Many people need their photographs taken for various reasons; however, I keep hearing that many people also avoid booking photoshoots with professional photographers due to the fear of not knowing how to pose, not knowing their best angles, or a fear of being misunderstood or not listened to.
So, my vision of helping the community is by becoming a photographer who values my clients’ comfort first and foremost. I aim to provide them not only with the stunning visuals they need for their personal or business use but also to prioritize their comfort and provide guidance throughout the photoshoot. Everyone is different, and I love working with diverse personalities and bringing out something special in every single one of my clients.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am Lauritta Stellers -a professional photographer from Moscow, Russia based in Southern California.
I specialize in Commercial/Brand, Portrait and Family photography + creating digital content.
I am a Jill of All Trades when it comes to capturing images.
It is incredibly important for me to see and feel the beauty even in the smallest things around me, otherwise my life starts to become ordinary and gray. In photography, I want to create an atmosphere of freedom and emphasize the uniqueness of each personality that enters the view of my lens.
Whether we are talking about commercial photography or portraiture, I approach each project with extreme care and professionalism, starting from communication with a client, and finishing with the delivery of the final images.
My clients come to me for my creative vision, but always leave with so much more than that, whether we are talking about capturing their memories during a family photoshoot; helping them rediscover themselves during a portrait session; or showcasing their brand to attract the best clientele possible.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend from Moscow came to visit me in Los Angeles, here’s how our day would go!
First thing in the morning we would grab a 9am breakfast & a pastry at Bianca in Culver City.
After that we’d hop in a car and drive all the way to Laguna Beach and start with a cup of coffee at the Hotel Montage’s lounge with a gorgeous view to their pool and the ocean, while listening to a live piano artist playing in their hall. After coffee we would spend our time exploring all around Laguna Beach, walking along the beach and exploring art galleries and little shops along the way.
Closer to the evening we would drive back and finish our evening with some pizza at the Butcher’s Daughter and their fresh squeezed juices or a. glass of wine.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to thank Santa Monica College and the entire photography department for teaching me everything I know about photography and providing all the necessary tools for the successful launch of my career.
I also want to thank my mom, Kalina Sazonova, an extremely talented hair artist and a wonderful creative person, for supporting me every step of my journey and teaching me from a very young age to see beauty and creativity in everyday life.
