We had the good fortune of connecting with Lawrence Youngblood and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lawrence, how does your business help the community?
Through our memoirs and cautionary tales. We aim to inspire and encourage readers to stay away from crime and seek mental health.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
LY Publications LLC is the name of my self publishing company. I’ve been in business three years, and so far I’ve published two memoirs and one fiction cautionary novel. Our aim is to publish as much material as we can and eventually transition into the filming industry. I’m very proud of the fact that I have the freedom to put out stories the way I desire them. Our stories are as true and real as they can get ( despite some are fiction) so it is very important we tell them our way and not having to compromise our art.
In the beginning it wasn’t easy getting my business going due to finances which COVID hit around the time I was just getting started. But we hung in there and persevered by staying focused and consistent.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In my hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana, there are too many extraordinary spots to choose. But I would have to say I would take my friend to Mardi Gras parades, dine at a few exquisite restaurants that specialize in pasta and seafood, and party more at popular nightclub. The Aquarium is a wonderful place to visit and tour.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost God. Second, my dear mother Sandra Youngblood. Then my aunt Clarissa Houston. Councilman Oliver Thomas for having me on his radio talk show. My dear friend Adrienna . And all those who supported me by purchasing a copy of my books and Tshirts. Thank you all.
