We had the good fortune of connecting with Leah Kahan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leah, why did you pursue a creative career?
Whenever I watched commercials growing up, I would always try to figure out why brands partnered with specific celebs or artists/songs. It was always something I was fascinated by – this ultimately pivoted into what I do every day professionally. I help brands such as Walmart, State Farm Campbells, Jeep etc zone in on what song creatively makes sense in their commercials and what celeb talent (actors, musicians, influencers, athletes) can best carry a campaign.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In any job, understanding the why and how are essential. I’ve always believed that in order to succeed, it’s key to understand the bigger picture. While you might be focused on one specific workstream, I believe you’ll be that much more effective if you understand how your workstream fits in with the entire project/goal.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Local concert venues! Best way to understand any city is to see what up-and-coming acts are getting booked. 

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents for helping me develop a strong sense of business acumen as well as the ability to find creative solutions
