Meet Lee Donaldson | Chef-Owner, Thai Restaurant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lee Donaldson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lee, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Originality. Some of the ingredients we found here are not the same as those in Thailand It doesn’t give as strong flavor as the Thai food made there. I guess it has to do with soil, weather, other regional factors. So, we decided to import some of these ingredients from the south of Thailand, where I grew up. In addition, one of the main ingredients of Thai cuisine is fish sauce, one of the four balancing flavors in Thai food. We are not shy to use the true flavors of Thailand.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My culinary journey has taken me from chef-owner of a food truck in Santa Monica, to a leader of a cloud kitchen in Los Angeles to a small restaurant in West Los Angeles.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Montana Avenue in Santa Monica, Little Japan on Sawtelle and Pico/Westwood Area where we have been dining for 20+ years

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
