We had the good fortune of connecting with Lee Levy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lee, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?

I would have to say that many people do not understand the ENTIRE process of building a website. There is SO MUCH MORE to it than what you see on the front end. A website needs to accomplish MANY things, it needs to be functional, attractive, and most importantly it needs to get your message across. It’s not like social media where you just have a quick thought and make a post. There are a LOT of questions that a GOOD web designer needs to ask when sitting down with their client.

For example:

1)What is your target audience?
2)What are you hoping to accomplish with this website? (Sell online, get leads, get calls, raise awareness, etc)
3)What methods of marketing will you use along with this website?

These are just a few for example. I have a very large checklist of questions and answers that I go through before starting any project. This ensures that we can build the best possible project for our client.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

Even though many web designer stay behind their computers, I am VERY PROUD of the fact that I am constantly on the front lines. I LOVE meeting with my clients, who many times become my friends. Face to face relationships are VERY important, and it sets a whole new level of trust with people than just a text/email or a voice on the phone. When you get out of the office, dressed up, and ready to be “professional” this shows right away to your clients. This sets me apart from MANY other web designers.

My two biggest challenges so far in my career have been:

1)Cancer in 2019 – if ANYTHING this has taught me that you need to stop dreaming and start doing. Because when something like that hits you, NOTHING else matters. Don’t wait for tomorrow, because it may never happen.

2)Fear of Public speaking — I was NEVER a public speaker, however because of all my networking and small presentations, after many years I am happy to announce that I am not a major speaker at the yearly WordPress Web Design Conferences. Its a great feeling!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
WOW – this one is tough, as I am a nature girl! One week, I would have to say our road trip would consist of: Yosemite National Park, Monterey, Lake Tahoe, Big Sur, Santa Cruz, Sequoia National Park, San Diego Old Town, and Big Bear.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly a little bit of everyone in my life deserve credit here. Family, friends, my networking groups, everywhere I have gone I have felt so much encouragement to build my business. I feel very grateful that I had a lot of love and support around me at all times.
