We had the good fortune of connecting with LEEJAMES and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LEEJAMES, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
whenever i feel even i ounce of doubt i recharge by linking up with fellow artists that will inspire me and push me to be great

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I would say my work is a hybrid of different skills combined. so going to school in Hollywood and getting into the graffiti scene helped me on the street art level, then going into traditional sign writing gave me hand painting skills witch led to one of my break out moments painting the sign in the music video for Sound Gardens song Black Hole Sun witch led me into the sign writers union Local 729 where i went on to work with the late 2 Pac,Jay Z, Outkast, Janet Jackson and many more music videos, Tv shows and Movies….. Then realizing i would have to take to learning graphic design on a computer witch was a tuff transition but knew inside this was the future and led me to be one of the top club flyer designers in LA and was able to work with Recording Artists on there album designs tour merch etc etc. There is so much more to say but currently i still work for Film and Tv and also still running LEEJAMES DESIGNS where i am more focused on creating fine art/street art pieces with my unique style of Collage Art witch all have a story behind them being dark or funny witch i think has separated me from other great Collage Artists.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Wow this will be tuff lol. I think i would start off in the art district and show them some of the incredible street art and maybe have a nice lunch at THE PIE HOLE then on for a drink at FATHER’S OFFICE……Next would go to Highland park to Hit some shops and record stores for a quick dig then of to eat at THE TACO SPOT then a drink at the GOLD LINE…Next to Koreatown for some lunch and drinks with some good music at Escala then a late night sub from BOO’S PHILLY……….Next off to Melrose / Fairfax district tons of shops luv going first to THE RECORD COLLECTOR for a look at some music then some food at LALA’S then hitting some ally’s to look at some great Graffiti art then maybe hit Canters deli…..Following day would luv to go to Santa Monica/Venice for a bike rental then have a bite to eat at Dudley Market then head over to the pier for a nice stroll…….next maybe a club night over in Chinatown at the Grand starr jazz club for Boombox (golden era hip-hop)…….Then a couple of landmark spots and end it off a Grand central market…..

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely would have to say my dad first for asking me to move to America from the UK and for seeing that i had a passion for art . That would lead him to teach me about the sign writing industry and pushing me to learn graphic design
