We had the good fortune of connecting with Leo Uemura and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leo, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Whether emotional or physical, stress is part of life. There is no human in the world where they never encounter some form of physical stress. We do need stress in order to grow and become stronger, but it starts to negatively affect us when it becomes too much. This is where we come in to help. Recovering from an injury, dealing with an old chronic pain, aches and pain from sitting in front of a computer, or just wanting to maximize your daily energy and performance, there are always things we can do to help.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The thing that sets us apart from other clinics the most would be the progress that we make with our patients. Not just pain relief, but actually making changes to how their body functions so they can keep on doing what they love. People stop doing things they used to do due to an injury or blaming on “getting older”. And many patients coming into our clinic do not realize that it is possible to go back to where they were and not just give up. It is not always easy, but with the experience and training that we have, we have great success. Not only do we have years of experience with our hands to treat people, but we also have multiple state of the art equipment to help facilitate the healing. Besides the professional sports teams in Los Angeles, we are the only clinic in the area to have such equipment.

Getting to where we are today was not a quick journey. It took time with hours and hours of learning. Besides the required continuing education that we have to do, most doctors stop learning new things once they are out of school. That was not the case for myself, and constant training/studying outside of school and practice, is what helped develop who I am today.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Torrance has the best Japanese food in the country, so we will definitely have some of that! There is such a wide range of options, so whatever my friend feels like having…be it ramen, soba, udon, okonomiyaki, shabu shabu, japanese bbq, curry, fried chicken, tempura, sushi, yakitori, tonkatsu, and etc, there will be a place for that!
We would also take advantage of the nice weather and go to the beach: either Redondo, Hermosa, or Manhattan.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The number one person that needs recognition for our success will have to be my wife. Without her and her help, none of the things I am doing right now would have happened.
